What's going on with the grey square in the middle,   assuming its roof but it looks very odd.

I used web ODM for this. Maps made easy didn't do a good job on it.

I just checked out a demo of Web ODM and it looks like it could be very useful.  

Like the way they’ve cut the corner off to keep away from the railway

I don't have any idea. I just take the pictures. I was shocked at how much was completed in a month. Next month will be shoot 6 of 12 so I guess they are schedules for half done. The site measures out 1100 by 600 or a little over 15 Acres

I have used the open source and the paid for version. The paid for version for $64 works well. The open source is lots of work.

I had an intern install it on one of my PCs it took a few days and never worked right. The interface on the paid version works well. You don't need command line to operate it.
