Stone river is such an interesting phenomenon.  Great job on this video Alex.

I had to know how this was formed so I did a little research.  Seems it started as the moraines of ancient glaciers.  Their further formation occurred due to the spherical erosion of the syenite rocks and their gradual movement to down stream valleys by the forces of gravity and moving water.

When I was young even the name was Moreni - But now they claim in Vitosha mountain there were no glaciers and those stones were formed during volcanic eruption forming the whole mountain some 300 million years ago - or so they say but the whole mountain is basically filed with those rocks and covered by soil - only on some places (a lot) they are cleared by the water or wind

Those rivers of boulders really are a feature of Bulgaria, aren't they.

Just goes to show us that scientist and geologist still do not know everything.  Thanks for the corrected info.
