I have an x8 and I love it but it is too big and complex for daily pleasure and it doesn't fit in my back pack.
Seems like my long love with the Phantoms might be over as I cant afford a new one.
So I'm thinking about cannibalizing the Gopro and gimbal from the x8 to save money and get airborne again by summer.

Go.. Thing is, from the back of my house to the beginning of the woods is only 25 yards. So I basically take off and ascend 150ft straight up, then fly around over the woods. Not ideal signal wise.  That's why I downloaded litchi, so I could send her on long range missions. Haven't flown with that app yet though.

That's pretty amazing. Wonder why/how Litchi is able to get better range than GO? That's rather embarrassing for DJI.

I'm lucky if I don't loose reception after 150' !!

3,024m yesterday from home. Stock P3A. Bit too hilly (Chilterns) to get further - I'm in the valley. Will have a go from a mates farm - he's on top of the hill
Signal strength pretty much full all the way. Not a breath of wind on the ground......gusts of 30mph when I got a bit of height over the hills - as noted before - double check wind conditions to make sure you can make it back !

Over 12000 feet , up in the mountains with a 23 mph wind.  Could have gone further but a mountain was in the way.   Bone stock P3 Advanced.  Here is the Healthydrones log:

I read all the  comments here and i decide  to get the DBS antenna and now with my phantom 3 standard the max distance was 6561.68 Ft and the total flight distance was 19685.00 ft , now im really happy with my standard it flies amazing

My longest with the standard was over 2.6 miles with a wind surfer and open field and at max height allowed ;)

Did you do the dbs antenna mod?  I am interested in how hard it might be.  

10,025' with bone stock P3Pro.  No antenna mods.  No windsurfer.  Just me, the RC and the P3P

its kind of easy .  you need to be patient , because is kind of hard to  glue that they use to hold the stock antenna , but after that everything is easy ,  i really like that antenna but , why you need more range you alredy get 2 miles , if you go further you are not going to be able to come back , and after 1 km you are not able to see the quad ,  just FPV,  ims just wondering

3.000mts, just once for testing in an open field. Got backup in the end point in case the battery didn't allowed me to go back.
I ended up with about 40%+ battery when it landed back at home.

well if its just a standard antenna i feel more safe with that signal, as i have said the booster is positional and the farther out the smaller the hit point.  I would imagine with the dbs upgrade and a booster I can go alot farther

I will have to amend my earlier claim.  I have now flown farther one way.  I attached the Windsurfer to the antenna, went to the top of the hill at the end of the valley and let the quad rip through the valley.  50% battery out and return.  Never lost signal, had solid control the whole time, 6.4 miles total flight distance.  3.2 out - my longest yet and only seemed to be limited by battery power.  When I landed I had about 15% battery left.  Absolutely no wind and no obstructions. I have done this twice now.


EDIT TO ADD: I have a question for those that have not flown very far from themselves - why not? What is holding you back?  Fear?  Inexperience?  Really curious why is all.  Not a criticism.  I just never even gave it a thought.

And that would have been in CE mode so I'd expect more from FCC mode outside EU. And that's before we even get to LightBridge 2! Its clear that the P3 (in good conditions) can outfly its battery!

haha nice ,  mmm  well whats the point of lightbridge  2 if you are not able to get the quad back because of the battery i hope they do a new   battery also for at least 40 minutes of flight ,

also i was reading that also you are not going to be able to do long flights only in line of sight , and if you want to go further you are going to have to pay a license
bad things are coming , i hope that takes a lot of time to approve  that regulations

jeje yea i know , but  i think that in that case its better to get light bridge.  so you dont spend a lot of money in something that maybe is not going to work , the DBS is amazing but as yous ay you need to point the quad  with the antenna all the time in order to go further ,  also the dbs is a lot beeter than the stock antenna , if i dont point the quad. i get 800 meters ,  and with the stock antenna  100 meters , and pointing the quad with the stock antenna 300  meters  to 400

so it definitely  helps ,  also there is a lightbrige for the phantom 2 v+ may be later i going to try it with the p3s later

I dont think the P3S will ever get upgraded to light bridge.  im trying to convince the wife that we need to add a Inspire to the list.

hahaha,  i need to do that but not the inspire is really expensive!!!  
i can get 3 phantoms pro for the price of the inspire , i think that phantom 4 is the one that is going to be in the list . i hope they dont do may changes , because if they do i going to migrate to other brans ,  or racing quads

So I thought I saw on the dji spec that the p3 advanced was supposed to have a 1.2 mile range...so far I have taken mine just shy of the 2 mile mark, 1.96 miles.

Got the same kit installed but.......haven't quite got that far yet. Taking a trip to the high desert to see how it handles...I've got the same kit installed on another drone I have. These are great antennas....

You can in a GPC case. It does remove easy and can be stowed in the DJI Hard Case...no problem
