Hi friends,

I just noticed that there is a switch in the DJI Go App called "Downward vision Position" which is apparently on by default.  I'm not sure if that's been there for a while or not, but I just recently noticed it.  The only thing I generally chenge in this menu is to turn off collision avoidance when I need to fly a little faster, but not Sport mode fast where the camera can be unstable.  So what is the purpose of this switch and under what circumstances would one want to turn off downward vision positioning?  How will the quad behave differently with this on versus off?

Thank you,

--Jim

That's new. Could this be the switch to allow VPS to be turned off. The flying over water solution ?

Now that might explain why I was seeing slow drops in altitude today when flying at about 16 feet. Just noticed this seems to be 'Off' by default.

I just checked my iOS version of DJI Go that was updated on September 18th and it's there..   I wonder why it was never documented in the update?   All that's listed for the update are some Osmo enhancements and bug fixes.

Will the sonar prevent you from flying into the water? (Not landing, but flying low over water. Can you accidentally dunk it?)

Sorry...what's the issue with VPS when flying over water?

My p4 was dancing and "bouncing" over water following waves that my dogs create when they jumped into water.

Sorry...what's the issue with VPS when flying over water?

What was happening to some, although I never tested myself, was that the Visual Positioning was tracking and flowing with the surface ripples when hovering over slow moving water.

So if you were hovering trying to take a static video of an object the VPS would cause the P4 to drift with the flow of the river, the P3 already had the option to disable VPS.
