Wow. Thank god I read this forum post before pulling the trigger on buying directly through DJI. P ...

I think it wise to relax and wait for 15/10 maybe first orders will be sent and others will follow on a daily basis, and maybe this won't happen, from experience and when I bought P4 it was shipped bang on the day it was supposed to, so the only experience I have with DJI products is a good one, I don't envisage this changing, I think most of the hype on this thread is excitement about getting what looks like a very exciting product, that is human nature and it's the way things happen nowadays, and secretly I think companies and there customers get a great kick out of all this, in a months time all the hype will be over, and we can just get back to our normal mundane lives, just waiting for the next thing to happen, it's all good though..

emailed sales department, and they cant provide a date but base on my order date of 9/27, was told i will be with the first batch of shipment. And that it usually take 3-5 days to arrive at doorstep. I just need it by 10/27 at the latest, so fingers cross. would be a total bummer not having a drone on my vacation

If that's the info they gave you, then it's probably pretty accurate.

I talked to the CS two days ago.  And he just said Nov 2 is the default date put onto the system for general first batch of order.  It is not the exact date until the HQ amend it with further advice.

Thats crap they gave you.  Mavic is going to ship by air for sure if it is oversea order.  Hanjin is a sea cargo company if they go to use it, then won’t be arrived anytime before Xmas.

Hanjin went bankrupt end of August. Only shipments by sea freight that went out with them before that will be affected. There is a total over capacity world wide for sea freight, so Hanjin's bankruptcy doesn't have any big effects on the industry, besides possible price increases by other companies. Only shipments that are stuck on their container ships are in trouble.

I work in China and we do a lot of international shipping and see no effects whatsoever.

those ordering now would have to wait for november because seems to me they have prepared the first line of batch production to those who purchase first in the first coming days.

look at the DJI online store it says november to wait and first come first serve. I hope I am not in the november shipment production batch.....

I feel bad for everyone waiting and wondering about their shipping date as that is truly a guess by everyone.
For those near the flagship stores like where I am in Hong Kong, the Mavic is shipping tomorrow (oct.15) so i can't wait to see some 1st owner videos especially from those who don't have to wait for shipping and are lucky early pre-orderers who get to pickup at the flagship store. I think even those who ordered online on DJI site for HK won't really get theirs until Monday (17th) depending on how it is shipped locally. I'm in the 2nd batch for end-Oct to early Nov as I was hesitant on such a purchase even though I got to see it in action first-hand and even had it in my hands. As DJI-Ken keeps mentioning, you definitely will be amazed by this compact piece of engineering. I can see why all those reviewers are so excited about this little drone. Once it's in your hands, most of you will be amazed too and yes, the heatsink does get quite warm.

It was the 8th largest and pretty small compared to the big players.
The reason it failed was because of a massive lack of demand for this type of shipping as China's exports slow.
The custom they had will be easily swallowed up by other shipping companies who also are running way below capacity, losing millions a year. The only way it would have been an issue is if components were on Hanjins ships but its most likely everything is manufactured within China anyway.

If they charged your card, they are probably about to ship in the next few days. Then the wait begins for it to actually arrive depending where they are shipping from. If straight from the factory and by air, it may take a week or two but I'm not sure since I don't live in Europe. what I do know is the shipping from Europe to HK can take 3+ weeks. The UK probably was the fastest at 1 week, but the rest of EU...it probably got lost coming to HK. What is wrong with your shipping operations over there? Regulations getting in the way?
As for the heat sink, I think it is the electronics for sure with all the sensors and stuff that need computational power. I think that's also where most of the weight is too.

So now it seems human rights and an established work day has taken root in China. NO wonder the delay. No work on the weekends, paid holiday leave...hell, I bet the DJI customer service is outsourced to India call centers because they don't want their workers working too hard.

Pleeeeeeease spare me. This is CHINA! Half the comments on here are a way for other anxiety filled people to connect with each other and to justify their own excitement at such an amazing product.

But please, spare me the cultural speech on how things are done in China. Funny how people order a drone from a foreign country and all of a sudden not only are they shipping experts, but their command on cultural bearings in relation to a product from CHINA borders on the uneducated.
