While it's common sense to most of us who understand how business works, I guarantee you the majority of people who ordered directly from DJI didn't know this going in.

Of course BB will get them, so will all the other dealers and individual orders at some point. It's all about timing and advertised release dates being met.

BB is the only major vendor still sticking to their original release date of Oct 31, and still allowing new orders to get in with same delivery date as of today.

People ordering from 2-4 different places exaggerates the the "demand" issue.  These same people complain about return times and being stuck with multiple product/paying for items they cant afford and shouldnt have ordered in 1st place.

Yeah it does.   They are working around the clock to fill orders for their highest priority customers -- the major resellers and big box stores.    This tightens supply for individual orders.

I really don't see a prolonged shortage through Christmas because the drone market is still a niche one relatively speaking.   By the end of November there will be Mavics on shelves.   That's my guess anyway, and also why I don't want to take on the risk of buying two for the purpose of selling the second one.   I did this for major gaming console releases, but not a drone.

The simple fact is that better communication from DJI would have slowed down the multiple order phenomenon.   This sort of thing happens when there is confusion and risks of delays without information during major project launches.

I do wonder how Best Buys computer system maintains that date. I can definitely see the 29th or 30th coming and either a day before the day of, the delivery date changing. It seems that has already happened with a bunch of Apple and Amazon orders.

Who knows though, I hope I am wrong

Because not even DJI has extra batteries to sell yet.   I ordered one a month ago and it's still in limbo.   DJI is focusing on getting the actual birds out before manufacturing any extras.

some one had just started a new thread that Best Buy is sold out, and Cancelling orders... Not sure if its true or not, but  might want to check for sure before you cancel from DJI direct

Best buy store employees are unable to see when certain products come into inventory. The system shows the product entering the system on the day the actual product appeared on bestbuy's website. Only certain managers know and have access to certain product arrivals, and that too for that store only. Online is a whole other side. For online, you  need to call bestbuy corporate to find out shipping etc information IF the product is not being picked up in store.

What I was really getting at is it seems highly likely that Best Buy will not get Mavics to all those who pre-ordered by the October 30- November 1st dates that have been thrown around.

It seems like that has been the case with Amazon and other reseller orders and I can't see BestBuy being any different.

But the difference is that Best Buy has stuck with this date and it still remains the same and they're way to big of a company to neglect that. Amazon changed theirs.

I have an early preorder for the combo placed on 9/27 that is still pending. I also have a bestbuy preorder for the basic package that is allegedly coming on 10/31. In the spirt of good karma, I'll keep both orders and sell whichever one comes second unopened at the price I paid for it, $1,088.74, to one of you that is further down in the queue. (I still want all the stuff that comes with the combo even if it comes late) Only ask is that you are in NYC, meet at my place of choosing (not traveling across town for you), and pay cash. No upcharge at all, but no sense in returning when someone else further down the pipeline can get one sooner. However, NO SHIPPING WHATSOEVER. I don't want to end up in a situation where someone disputed. If nobody takes me up on this, I'll cancel the other order when the first arrives.

You haven't been around for many product launches of various electronics then.   It's not uncommon.  The better the product, the worse the fits.

looks like 90% here are somewhere 18-25 yo, not fully grown men yet. they have plans right now and "can't wait" for a new toy. ;) I'm not better, just want to get out while it's still above freezing.

You must not know how computer systems or companies work.... You set a quantity, once quantity is reached sold out comes on your site automatically.

Do you think best buy isn't sophisticated enough to know how many units they have for sale or when they will be shipped out for delivery?

I would assume they wouldn't be in business as long as they had without having easy access to this type of data.

I hate to burst anyone's bubble but when BB CS tells you that your order is shipping on schedule then they are simply relaying the same information that is being displayed on the website. If you insist that they look up the product in the inventory system (you might have to ask a manager to do it) you will find out that zero are on hand in the warehouses and there is not even a confirmed ship date from the manufacturer. BB does not have any yet and no one is going to see anything at the end of this month.

Repeat: No 'confirmations' that units will be available from BB mean anything unless you know for certain that the indivudual has actually looked in the inventory control system, not the generic CS screen. Agents will not do this unless specifically asked, and many do not have access at all.

Sorry to break it to everyone but that's the way it is. BB is not going to start shipping units within the next few days because they don't have any.

No, read my message. I have had two BB managers do a proper lookup. I am no expert but I expect that they are. Since I am in the same boat I would actually like both them and the iventory system to soemhow be wrong, but logically I have to accept the fact that they probably aren't.

Well, I do consider the work of the manager of a Best Buy store who is looking at their inventory control system right in front of me to have a little more credence than a CS rep who is simply repeating web page info back to you, but I guess that's just me ;)
But anyway, yes, you will find out soon enough.

Well unless I used mental telepathy then yes, of course I spoke to them. These were stores in the Asheville, NC area and also a supervisor on the BB customer support line (I asked to be escalated when the rep I was speaking to could only repeat the web site info.) Once they looked it up all gave the same response.

Man, people sure are defensive about this. I would love to be wrong but I don't think so. If you believe that you will see something on Oct 31 then the more power to you and I hope you're right, we'll all find out soon.
