Yeah and agree 100%  I had my order in for the Mavic and still want one, but after reading some of the horror stories on here it put me off and i reckon better to wait till bugs have been ironed out.  I'll look into them again in 6 months maybe.  

Loving the P4 tho, altho only had 1 x battery charge this arvo.  Wow the thing moves well in 'Sports mode' for sure, altho do like the extra braking you get with GPS mode.  Will have another play with it tomorrow and Sunday then I'm away with work for 5 days to Sydney, and as much as I'd love to get some footage of the Opera House from the water, flying over water is something I haven't earned much confidence with yet.  Did a lil with my P2 but was only a lil.  Would really like to get out from the beach 500m and get footage looking back, but yeah, hmmmm on that one atm.

All the DJI aircraft have GPS hold, there is a switch to choose Attitude hold on all but the Mavic ...

I crashed my P4  real bad recently...didn't have the Care Refresh insurance .  I ordered the Mavic on 10/18/16...Hoping to get it before I leave for SE Asia late December...But after reading the posts regarding delivery I don't think I'll have before Xmas.
I'm having flying withdrawal symptoms .....I think I'll buy another P4 to fly until I get my Mavic.

Your post could be made for virtually any DJI model sold in the last five years! Just change the model and you're in business. I think just about *every* drone DJI has come out with so far experiences the same "growing pains."

If you go back just two or three years and look at the competition and compare them to DJI - what - they're no longer in business? (I'm referring to the competition, not the DJI products!)

In fairness, there are some that are still competing - Yuneeq (which should include Blade) certainly comes to mind. But if you look at who's still selling, who's still improving, who's adding features (both software and hardware), who has stayed constantly in business, etc - DJI is the winner, hands down. As soon as the MAVIC becomes available via my favorite drone retailer, I'm going to buy one.

Good luck with your alternative choices, if that's the way you go.
