OK good news :

Today I test flew my P3S with :

FW 1.8.10
Go app 2.9.1
Argtec Antenna
Icarus 27dbm settings
Nexus 7 series 2 16gb Tablet

Results :

No video lag at all.
No video colour breakup at all
Perfect following of AC in flight
RTH worked as it should with no faults.
No silly choice to make as to Home location.

The Go app certainly was better with the older version compared to the latest 3.1.2.

This shows 3.1.2 has serious problems.

FW - this was solid and worked well BUT as per previous flights has shortened the range I get to just over 50% of previous. I was enjoying out to over 2000m with 1.7.09 but now am pushing to limits just over 1000m, with frequent RTH kicking in at about 900m.

Video is being uploaded and will be posted once ready.

Comparing this to previous flights convinces me my theory of the problems with Go 3.1.2 are confirmed. The latest FW appears to be OK but shortened my range.
3.1.2 was suffering terrible video lag and frequent colour band breakup on screen. The Home position was altering and when initiating RTH - the box would come up with that unnecessary question of what home position.
Going back to 2.9.1 cured it totally.

Given the conflicting information from DJI support / technical I had for battery saga I decided not to bother, easier to sort it out myself.

But I'd be interested to see what people had in reply !!

I feel sorry for the people who have had their P3S destroyed / lost / damaged by all this. I think I am lucky that with flying various other before this - I had a fair chance of surviving the mess.

i was happy with 1.6.8 and had 3600ft  and with the last 2 fw i barly get a 1000ft

Thanks for all of your work and help Nigel-- I didn't go back as far as you on the Go app, just to the previous version and it all works well after several flights.
I don't have problems with Here maps- I figured this out about it:
--You have to open the go app without A/C connected and enter camera mode while still connected to the internet (if there isn't a camera mode available then switch it to Mavic).
Click on the map and you'll see that it downloads the area map, you can check the satellite views etc. - I always get good detailed maps.
Go back out of the app and connect the A/C as usual. The maps should then come up.

First simply uninstall the Go app you have by using APPS under SETTINGS ... but do not clean up. You can keep your flight logs etc.

Go to Phantomhelp for his archive and scroll way down to OLD GJI GO app ....

Or google for it ... trouble is many sites have defaulted to the latest crap 3.1.2 ... so you may have to try a few to get an old version.

I think you can probably use 3.1.0 just as well or even 3.1.1 .... but I wanted to go back to Google maps so went back to 2.9.1 ...

Once downloaded - then install ... go through the AGREE bit ... do the login ... and bingo - all ready to go. You should find it will remember all your settings as well.

Here actually is not so bad where I am ... Google maps are well out date ...

I'm no expert at this - but I'm a plugging type of chap who will plod on to find an answer. If that helps others - thats reward enough for me.

omg. i was looking for that! will always turn RC and Phantom first. now will invert to see if something changes! thanks a lot!

So no need to downgrade drone? I have already changed to 2.9.1 on the DJI GO application but havent gotten to do the downgrade of the drone yet. Had mine for 2 weeks and don't want it to do a fly away this early.

Well done Nigel and Great News. All I need to do now is find out how to downgrade DJI Go on my iPhone  because I just can't get that Charles Proxy to work on my Mac. !!

Oh well it's Australia day here tomorrow so after the wife has been Stand Up Paddle Boarding maybe I will get some time.

I had problems with HERE maps in 3.1.0, but I downgrade and now I'm using 3.0.0, that works perfect
But i'm using the FW 1.10.90 and I'm regret , i have problems, but it's impossible to downgrade

Heres FW 1.08.009 and Go app 3.1.1 .....

Go App 3.1.1 is crap ! Lags like crazy .... but FW 1.07.009 is fine ....

Managed 2490m today ...



Will be rolling back Go to an earlier version to get rd of the video lag.

WooHoo the downgrade worked.  Today was the first day I could fly since going back to 2.9.1 and I got about 5,300' and turned around and came back.

I was having major video lag etc at 500-1000' with 3.1.  No doubt the problem is with the app not the FW.

I hope DJI is taking note of all this - time to get head out of the sand and make use of all this valuable testing data.

Well I think after all this I have decided that for me ....  and please note I am only referring to ANDROID as I do not use ios / Apple

FW 1.07.009 and Go app 2.9.1 is the best combo ....

With Go 3.0.0 I had strange disconnects and some video lag .... this video stream problem seems to dog the 3.x.x versions.
