I am steaming mad!
Just spent thousands on Osmo Pro kit. Opened up and followed the instructions for setup, firmware update and the system just sits there limp and not functioning. For hours I tried everything listed on the internet and these forums. Seems like a number of people have had this same problem. DJI, if you expect people to pay thousands for a product it better damn well work out of the box. I can understanding a deffective item here or there, but this appears to be a frequent problem. The big issue here is that I need this camera for a shoot in 1 week and at the speed I have been getting responses from DJI for anything I think I am screwed for that. Thanks DJI!
I am not sure where to go from here. Anyone please advise!

Here are the things I have tried.
-initail firmware download (appeard sucessful, but system not functioning)
-subsquent firmware re-attempts (same bad results)
-downloaded prior version and no success on the firmware update with the camera
-tried using a different card
-held trigger, shoot and record buttons in an attempt to reset (not sure if that is for the x3 setup)
-tried crossing my fingers (least effective)

This happened to me too during the last update. When you updated was the focus wheel connected? I updated mine without the focus wheel attached and it wouldn't do anything. I attached the focus wheel due to the message of focus not connect and then after that the update went fine.

Thanks Cephas. That is an interesting observation. I do not have a focus wheel but I had already planned on renting one this week. Hopeful it arrives before I give up and send the device back. It would be a major bug for DJI if having a focus wheel attached is the only way the update will go through properly. Will see how that goes and post my results.

I am sorry to hear that. However, I am also conned into it and realise what happened after unboxing it. You know tech geek is just so simple and naive. I thought Osmo can do then a Osmo Pro should do it with more finesse. Wrong, it spans to 4G size files and loss a couple of frames in between. I can't really call it Pro. No response from DJI after 2 years. Inspire 2, P4P, mavic camera, all seems to have fixed this problem. DJI still don't have any intention of fixing this issue.

Update to the last post. I tried with update focus wheel and same issue.
Spoke with DJI support (emailed me on a Sunday amazingly). The looked at log and txt files. They determined it was a major problem and said to sent it back for repair. Also that it will take 2-3 weeks.
DJI, this is just aweful. New camera needed for this week for a shoot and you will take 2-3 weeks to repair. It should have worked out of the box!!! I should not need repair on a brand new $2000 camera. You all really need to figure this stuff out.
Oh by the way I now need to spend $200 to rent a camera for my shoot. Want to pay for that?

I’m so sorry for the unpleasant experience with our product and all inconvenience caused. May I know more details of your issue? Like whether the Osmo has been activated successfully, please provide us the serial number, how does the indicator show after powering on? Is there any beeping sound?

Thanks for posting this thread parsonsphoto. I'm also having the exact same problems with not one but 2 osmo pros bought for my work. I don't have any access to a focus wheel to test if that would help but I'm hopeful there might be some other way to fix this problem.

I called DJI the day I first got the cameras (about a week ago) and told them about the problem. After I had explained the steps that I had followed to update the firmware and the results I got (or rather the lack of them) they told me that it must be a hardware fault and I should send both cameras back to the supplier.

But to me it seems very unlikely that both cameras would have exactly the same hardware fault. I think this has to be software related. So before I send them back I really want to exhaust my options. I live in a regional area and had to buy these osmos from a long way away, so sending these cameras back is both time consuming and expensive. If there are any ideas of other things I could try I'm keen to know.

Both osmos were successfully registered through my phone after they were first put together. I have made several attempts to upgrade firmware and my log file looks pretty much like the one posted by parsonsphoto at the top of this thread.

Now if I put a newely formatted SD card with the newest firmware on it (OSMO_FC550_FW_V01.04.00.70), when I switch the camera on it looks like it's loading the firmware (Left LED flashing Red then Green) for about 15 seconds. After this, the left LED goes out completely and the right LED keeps flashing yellow with a constant single beeping noise until the battery runs flat (or I turn the osmo off).

From the DJI Go app, the camera will focus, take a photo, record a video even but nothing will bring the gimbal to life. Also when I look up the firmware version in DJI Go it says 'Unknown' and has said this since the start.

I'm pretty disappointed  this seems to be so difficult and that so far DJI support have not been any help at all. But having heard similar stories from friends who have used a lot of DJI gear, I can't say I have been that surprised. However if anyone can offer a solution for this problem I'm more than happy to be nicely surprised by a solution to this problem because some how I don't think I'll be the last person to experience this same issue.

I believe there is a problem with OSMO's Motherboards.....I see this happening more and more. Be careful before you send it in. Mine have been in repair for 8 weeks, and even though it is still under warranty, they forced me to pay for the repair, or send it back to me unfixed.
