Hey all.

Trying to get the best possible video from the Mavic. But it is doing some very weird things. First off, I am using an ND8 filter, shooting at 2.7K 30 fps. As the clip shows around the 1:52 mark, the siding on the building flickers....thats the best way I can describe it. The custom settings were: -3, -0, -0.

I think you are referring to the moiré effect -- are you sure you shot at 2.7K/30? It really looks like the effect you get when shooting 1080p with 60 or 96fps. If not, what did you use to downsample to 1080, maybe that's where the moiré was introduced?

Also, fwiw, I wouldn't shoot with negative sharpness values unless you are in really bright light, and maybe not even then as you lose too much detail. Best to add a little blur in post if you want such an effect.

Nice music, btw.

Definitely 2.7K 30fps. I did however down sample it to 1080p 60 fps, as I was unsure how to render it at 2.7K in Sony Vegas Pro. The effect is there in the raw video, just not as prevalent as in the final product. This may be the reason it amplified the effect. The non rendering to 2.7K?

*edit* I never shoot at 1080p 60fps because it looks horrible. lol

Yeah, you get a little moiré if your viewing platform has to downscale to show it on your monitor, but you're getting much more than I think you should. I think Vegas is binning data just like the Mavic's camera does when shooting 1080p 60/96 -- maybe there's a more optimal way to downsample in Vegas?

Hoooo, mannnnn you went soooooo illegal !! There could have been animals, humans, insects or living trees under your drone. You're not allowed to that kind of flight in the Socialist democratic republic of Canada. Mr Sleepless Astronaut, and his bunch of idiots of Transport Canada virtually prohibited the use of a drone over the country. May I suggest you trying to fly over a lake. RCMP will probably be more tolerant if you're caught.

From another Canadian, hey !!

P.S.: your images are not that bad, frankly.

I was told to go negative on sharpness, as the sharper it is the more moire you will have. I set it to -3, 0, 0. Seems WAY better.

Ok did a bit of a test. Originally it was set for -3, 0, 0. So I kept those. I removed the filter all together, and figured out how to render 2720x1530 (2.7K) I think it was the filter.....
