I just received a new/refurbished mavic from DJI care refresh. After the initial unboxing, I updated the firmware and took it out for a flight. Upon taking off, I noticed the gimbal was moving all over, the SD card wasn't showing up and the camera will not focus. I think it is having some type of software problem, but I can't be sure
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That was the first thing I did before the initial flight

Try downgrading to a lower firmware to see if it makes any difference.

Try to refresh the firmware. Besides, could you please post some pictures or a short video about the issues for better assistance?

If it's a refresh/replacement surely all that should be done and checked prior to it being sent out or are they just picked off the shelf and sent out ? I hope you get it sorted, best try downgrade and update firmware again, hopefully it's just software related for you and can be fixed.

Definitely a good idea to downgrade (to .0800) and then do a factory reset (the button below the list of available firmwares) and then reupdate to .0900 and see. This has solved some problems people were having. Best of luck!

Also make sure that you're using the latest verson of DJI GO 4, which is 4.1.3 (Android) as of writing. The previous verions were fairly buggy.

Got my new mavic last week and went this weekend away from the city to try, test it and practice flying. Everything went good and no problems but one. At one point my gimbal went crazy. Was going back coz my battery was low, 30%. Pop it to Sport mode just to try it and gimbal in 3 instances went crazy. Don't know why, maybe wind tipped it over or what?
One flight latter, everything worked fine.
Anyone with similar problems. What should I do?

I've seen a few posts re gimbal freak out and I've experienced it myself, unsure but it looks like something causes the gimbal to do an inflight reset or something, hopefully it's some conflict in the firmware and they will fix in the next release.

I'm not saying you haven't already but if  it was me.......
I would Make sure there is no metal or other electrical source close by  Re calibrate compass IMU
and calibrate Gimbal (Advance setting)
.
Inspect the Card slot
Pitch that MicroSD card
.
And go through proper Start up with warm up.!
( I'm sure you have ... but some time we miss a step or two)

Start with fully charged (Good Battery
Fully charge Controller
Fully charged Phone/Tablet
1.Remove Camera arm Brace & Gimbal guard
2. Start Mavic
3.Start Controller (RC)
4.Start Phone /Tablet
5.(not plugged in
)
....after Normal NFZ & ATTi warnings clear.!  and controller say GPS  ready to Go Fly
and you have a link to more then 8 satellites

Then  would PUG IN.. Phone/Tablet and Open GO4 app
go through a system check
.

adjust your setting
If loss of signal with Controller Set to RTH .! not Hover or landing
forward sensor Stop.! not go over or around
Dial back your sensitivity

Turn off your Downward position sensor.
7. Hover a long minute to let Mavic warm up

try it again
and DONOT FLY ON 20% Battery charge
.
