yes you should be able to point straight down. I would start with an x1 calibration and go from there.

Did you check the end points on your control?

On your remote control, you should check the end points on the channel used for the tilt down. Usually it is channel 7 if you are using Futaba.

Make sure that your endpoints are set at 100% then calibrate.

I'm having the same issue. I've done a calibration (twice) and it still won't aim straight down. During the "pre" setup after powering up it does go completely horizontal but not by using the controller's slide lever.
What different adjustments did you do?
Also, is there a manual for the RC software? I can't find it on the DJI site.
Thanks

I had the same issue after gimbal firmware update - but suddenly after calibrating using first the RC software and then the Assistant software, it worked again. I was confused that the RC software states that the X1button is not calibrated there - but it had an impact though.

I just received a latest version P2 with H33D and 2312 motors directly from DJI and am using Hero 4B. Successfully performed Advanced Calibration. When H33D boots up it stays pointing straight down I have to use the control wheel to bring it to front facing. Is this normal?
Also, the stabilization in flight is great, however the horizon is not level by 2-4 degrees and drifts as yaw changes during flight.

How do I correct these issues?
