Just leave the .bin in the SDCARD.
Make sure the RC is POWERED OFF
Put the 2nd Battery IN
POWER ON the Phantom 3
The 2ND Battery will then UPDATE
Do the same with other extra BATTERIES

I just posted an issue I was having doing mine.  The Quad updated nicely.  But I've tried multiple times and can't get the RC to take read the update data.

Suggestions?

Look at the back of your RC. If you have the RC model GL-300B , try to do this:

RE-INSTALL your DJI GO App and RE-LOGIN your account
Connect your DEVICE to the RC
Power ON the RC then the Phantom 3
OPEN the DJI GO App
The App will tell you that you need to update your RC. Make sure that the DEVICE is CONNECTED to the INTERNET, then UPDATE via the App

I have the same issue !
I'm using an Android and the Pilot App.
The P3 updated fine but I dont know if the RC updated correctly.
When I try to boot from a SD card in the RC nothing happens the light stays red and doesn't beep.
Whenever I start the RC and the P3 then go into the App it keeps coming up that it needs a firmware update.
At this point I'm thinking its a bug as the RC & P3 seem to pair fine and I can start the motors and all but I'm not sure I should fly it yet ? Worried it will crash & burn LOL !
Oh and the RC is model GL-300B

AND...if you are using an Android device, with no JI GO App available yet from DJI - will this still work with the DJI Pilot 1.2.0 app?

If you are on ANDROID you will need to wait for DJI to release the GO App, before you can UPDATE your RC. However some already have flown their Phantom 3 on 1.3.20 without issues, even with dated RC.

Hi all, just got the new bird tonight.  Successful firmware upgrade on the P3 Prof and just logged into fresh app download of DJI Go and received no message to upgrade RC - GL Model 300B.  I've scoured the forums for hours and watched countless videos.  I've tried the USB + MSD card and no blue lights for me.  

Again, I'm a DJ3 P owner of all of 2 hours so far but have been researching for weeks.  Am I ok with the RC out of the box?

Any insight/help?

If there are no alert messages asking you to update your RC then you are good to go! GL-300B models are the latest so it may already be updated out of the box. Have fun and safe flights!
