Hi there,

Last sunday my Phantom 3 spontaneously flew away

On my 60th flight I was trying the “Follow Me”-function.

Just when I switched to this mode the craft spontaneously flew away.
The craft bumped into a tree, but luckaly it flew further.
I did use immediately the RTH function, which brought back the craft.
As far as I can recall I didn’t touch anything after switching to Follow Me mode.

The only damage , as far as I can see, are a few scratches on the UV-filter of the camera.

I think I have all the logs and video of this flight.

Can you tell me what I did wrong, or did the craft / software has a bug?

At 01/17/2016
App DJI Go: 2.4.3
Aircraft 1.6.40
RC: 1.5.70
Used phone: iPhone 6s (IOS 9.2)

Everything seems to be Super Happy!
Not sure how wierd a 1c drop (!) in battery temp is though..


Maybe someone can dig a little deeper by looking at your .dat file

Hmm.. how about your phone's GPS?
That's what it's supposed to follow and if it has a glitch I can imagine something like this would happen.

Good point there...
What phone are you using? I have a Galaxy Note 4 and the GPS has been off at times up to 30 meters. I discovered that the note 4 is notorious for having gps issues and have to periodically use a gps correction app.

I received an answer (2016/1/28) from DJI (Hong Kong)
"Based on all the info, the accident is not caused by pilot error and we will process a free repair service.
As you are located in Netherlands, i will report your case to our local colleagues and he will process a repair service locally.

I will wait untill they contact me. (Although the damage is minor)

I'm happy with it! Thumbs up for DJI!
