Hi All,

Something strange happened yesterday. I sent my inspire 1 v2.0 into the air with a fully charged TB48 and after approx 4 minutes had a battery fault come up on the display where it would normally say "safe to fly (GPS)". I turned around and went straight back home feeling a little worried that it may fall out of the sky at any moment.

Once safely landed back at base I looked at the battery status and there was an indication that one of the cells was faulty. I figured that I had a duff battery and replaced it with another TB48 and sent her off back into the heavens and just like before, the same thing happened again.

I now have tried three fully charged batteries and am getting the same thing on all of them although the cells which are being reported as dead are totally random and once powered down and restarted appear to be fine.

Any ideas anyone? It sounds like a loose connection to me but I have no idea where. The four spring loaded data contacts appear to be clean, springy and even as do the two main power terminals.

Just went out for another couple of flights, the first one was flawless but the second had a compass error too for the first time which went away after about 5 seconds and didn't seem to affect the direction displayed on the map, I guess another false alarm.

Anyway, here are the screenshots you requested.

Just noticed, the bad cell is generating 4.09v, the same as the rest, weird or what?

Just found another thread with similar issues http://forum.dji.com/thread-59614-1-1.html, this guy was flying away at full throttle which is what I was doing on all occasions. could it be excessive curren draw?

Have you tried to completely discharge the battery and recharge it?
If the error still persists, please contact tech support at support.eu@dji.com and send it in for evaluation.

Please try Mindy's advice and keep us posted. It is possible that it is due to the full throttle command and it can dip the cells to that low of level temporarily. If you do a few slow flights that do not incur the error, then that's most likely the culprit.

My drone accused the same defect today and began to fall, too cold blood I managed to bring it to the landing, however he ended hit in my car, not reached the break but the rear left engine was damaged. as is recorded flight will try to send the pictures I got doing a screen print.

Don't you think it's a bit of a coincidence that all three of my TB48's have started doing this at the same time?
I was trying to reach a distant location and was at full throttle running at about 20M/S on all occasions for an extended period of time, I think this maybe a good explanation.

I will try the same journey again this weekend but run a little slower and see what happens.

Sorry for your crash, have you contacted our tech support and sent it in for evaluation?

DJI Mindy is this becoming common? My Inspire V2 has done this with both my TB47 and TB48 I did discharge and they seem fine at the moment. They only have 8 and 12 charges on both of them. Thank you for any advise.

Also while I'm flight the cell readings looked good even while getting the cell broken warning

Hi,

I flew and depleted three TB48's and two TB47's today without a glitch. I kept my speed down to 20 MPH and all is well.

I suspect it's an issue associated with heavy current draw from the batteries. I'm wondering if it's ripple on the drones DC bus which is spilling over onto the data network and giving false alarms.


BTW, running at slower speeds appears to increase my range :-) any ideas what the optimal cruise speed is  in order to achieve the greatest distance?

You should be able to get an idea by playing back your flight record through the Go app. You would be able to look at your stick movements and see if it was at full speed when the error occurred. Please let me know if this helps.

Those two batteries seem to be within healthy range. You have not experienced any broken cell errors with those two at this time, correct?

No, it's just when I use full throttle for a lengthy period of time, say 20 - 30 seconds or so I seem to get this.

In the past I seem to recall a warning saying some thing like "propulsion limited to preserve battery" when using full throttle, I have not seen this in a while.

Has there been a software update that has removed this?

I don't know when I last saw the message. It just occurred to me that I haven't seen it in a while. I think this maybe what has happened, no red line anymore on the current version.

I have monitored voltage and temps a lot and going up on full throttle is most stressful because it has to carry a lot of weight up. Going forwards only makes it maintain altitude or its own weight and accelerates forward.
Going down is the best to cool down batteries.
I fly a lot forwards at 100 kmh and no problems. I use 70-80% stick going up and I only use 100% going up when I don't get the yellow voltage readings yet.

My DJI Go app updated to v3 this weekend, todays flight I had Battery Error during flight around 3-4 mins in on ALL my batteries.
It would appear to me that the app update has introduced the problem.
I suspect many more people will start to experience this.
