I just got the exact same response and I ordered on the 27th

Apparently this is the first time you've ordered a Pre-Order drone from DJI ?   Pretty much par for the course, or even worse as this release was no doubt even more pre-mature so they could kill all Go Pro Karma orders early on.  Here's the DJI formula for ship date on Pre-Order drones;

- Promise Shipments within 1 month of ordering during release = Mid October
- Once significant number of orders have been placed - bump this out by 1 month = Mid November
- Once this date rolls by, new promise of two weeks delay for some technical BS = End of November

You won't see any substantial shipments of Mavic's until early December and they will try to fullfil all in time for Christmas. - That's my prediction based on the P2, P3 and Inspire releases.

OH - Don't forget that you're only receiving the physical hardware - software could lag for weeks or the Android device you have isn't supported yet

Probability of Major Initial Issues = High to Extreme

p.s. - Yes I ordered one within the first few hours after release video - I'll never learn ....

Even if DJI ships on the 15th you are pretty much screwed if you ordered through B&H till after the 26th! 10 day holiday...  they literally just got back from a holiday today lol.

I bet they didn't even start producing the mavic till they started the pre-order, they were just trying to take away gopros Thunder.

Oh man there is going to be some sleepless peeps here tonite.....like christmas when you were 8!

They will start shipping as soon as the 15th.  Not sooner.  (And probably a lot later for most customers...)

Sorry - Just trying to give you all a dose of reality.  Not blaming DJI at all. They are very business savy and that's why they are so successful.  I'm really looking forward to getting a Mavic in the air, but honestly - let's not rush them with lots of requests for when do I get it etc.  It will only force them to possibly ship some, not so refined hardware, earlier than they'd like to.  I'd much rather get mine a month later than expected, than be part of the software development cycle - which might actually be appealing for some folks. Lots of new software going into this one so don't expect everything to work as advertised initially. That hand signaling thing they did in the release video is a good example.  One things for sure - we will be getting leading edge drone technology - can't wait

I hope so, I was going to purchase a P4 but glad the Mavic came out as I usually travel with alot of camera gear Canon 5D Miii or Canon 80D, Osmo, Sony A6000 and GoPro Hero 3+. The Mavic will be alot easier to bring along. Just hope it reached me by Nov 4th. If not ill have to borrow my friends P3A for my San Fran Trip.

Nice, I'm off Weir/Serrano.I fly at the end or Weir Canyon and there's never anyone there and you can fly for miles and miles.

I ride my motorcycle to Cooks Corner several times a week just to go for a cruise and to be able to bring a Mavic with me will be awesome.

Sounds like a great spot. I'm up in the Bay Area in Northern California and struggle to find good places to fly. Do you know any up here offhand?

No I don't, but one of our DJI professional photographers lives somewhere up there and he'd probably know.
Look at the any of the DJI Facebook pages as he is very active there.

I'm in Irvine, weir canyon sounds like a great spot. I have a p3p and a Mavic on preorder. I work in concrete construction and Orange County is so busy for us it's hard to find time to fly right now. A coworker also has a p3p and wants to go flying also. Cooks corner is awesome, I used to stop in back in the day when I had a Honda 750. I miss riding there and the Ortega highway and the coast of course.

Where did you get this information ? I've been trying to find an estimate for a long time now !

Well the DJI app for android was updated this AM to include /add support for the mavic so its getting close!

just chatted with DJI online and they said first batch shipping out 15th, which is NOW in china 8:00am then he said its the weekend here so i said then its shipping 16th sunday or what? he said he cant confirm, they all answer the same way like a bunch of spies from the government or something, cant and wont tell you anything extra....

15 October isn't already stated at calendar that's Saturday?  How can they not notice till now?  They pick this day for a reason.

Most companies will ship out at the weekend and companies also deliver all weekend here. The shipping company they use to ship in China definitely will be active.
Apparently it wont start shipping till Monday now as they said the stock still hasn't arrived at the distribution warehouse.

I ordered my Mavic through Amazon for two reasons:   1)  They don't charge you until it ships  2)  They return the crap out of it immediately if something is wrong.

This is an example for a pre-ordered item  from amazon they won't charge me until they are ready to ship or shipped
