GoPro revealed the Karma, stating Oct 23rd as a ship date.
DJI immediately announced the Mavic Pro, stating Oct 15th as a ship date.

Now, GoPro has shipped early, and they already have units at BestBuy stores, beating DJI for early availability.

Most DJI re-sellers are stating Nov 2 or later for a delivery date.

Is DJI going to attempt to move their ship date forward, to keep people form buying the Karma, because it is available first?

I doubt it.   Their product is superior.

Not at all, I'm sure the Karma is a wonderful aircraft, but the Mavic really has no competition when you really look at it and break it all down.

I agree, which is why I ordered the Mavic. My question was... Is DJI going to make an effort to ship the pre-orders in a timely manner, or do the usual, where they delay for months, and we don't get them until December?

We all know the Mavic is the better choice, over the Karma, unless you also want the detachable gimbal. The question is... WHEN will they actually ship?

I highly doubt DJI will ship this month sadly I believe they fudged the numbers to make it appear that they would ship this month to beat out gopro but in reality karma is shipping first.  I honestly prefer the mavic over Karma by far so I am saddened by this marketing ploy.

I haven't seen anything saying that the first orders will not be shipped mid-October (AKA Oct 15).

Let's see what happens on the 16th.  I'm still optimistic that we will see shipment tomorrow or Saturday.

I'm sure they have many extra karmas because everyone gave there money to DJI for the mavic which no one has yet!!

Can't help but think there's some GoPro bots hanging out on this forum

I cannot say when, BUT I can say good things come to those who wait. So they will ship when they ship, if they're late then they're late and there's nothing we can do about it.

I just looked at the video for Karma, and the freak'n backpack they are using is huge.  Glad I ordered the Mavic and not the Karma.

Yes, I might get picked up into the Beta program, I would assume those selected will get their Mavic sent out ASAP, one can't hardly beta test something they don't have.

No it doesn't mean your Mavic will get shipped out as soon as possible.

So you asked if they're going to ship early, two days before they're supposed to ship? I mean, if they shipped today, would it really be considered early? DJI direct orders are supposed to be shipping the 15th, and resellers of any company will always have a delay. I think it's pretty obvious that GoPro is nervous and wanted to beat DJI, not the other way around. DJI knows they're established, and I'm sure preorders reflect that. We're all like kids on Christmas Eve night, I'm right there with you, but we're just going to have to sit back and wait.

i doubt it as well. what dji offers is just to good compared to karma. this is also go port first drone so there is bound to be some problems while dji has 10 years of experience.

true so the only reason to buy the karma vs the mavic is because you will receive the karma earlier and if you have a go pro you can save a little bit of money. but the mavic is way superior compared to the karma.

thats true maybe go pro can make some advances and then dji will have a little more competition and that is healthy. dji is so good it really could be a monopoly.

DJI already has the worldwide market share of consumer drones and by a staggering amount.
I think that will always remain the same. The R&D department I believe cannot be matched by any other company out there.

Indeed we all just have to sit back and wait. I can promise that when that package does arrive, you will be like a kid on Christmas and when you open the box you will have that same feeling you did when Santa brought you that favorite toy when you were a kid.
The Mavic really is that amazing, I can promise you that when you hold it in your had it will bring a smile to your face.

GoPro is like a cult and they have a huge following. I'm sure they all will be totally happy with their Karma's.
But there will be the day that one of their friends has a Mavic and they meet up together to go fly and I think that will be the day that they will want the Mavic over their Karma.

I love GoPro and have several of their cameras and tons of accessories, but for a multirotor I can honestly say that there is no company out there in the world that match the DJI technology for the price.

I like the way you think! I was going to buy the Karma grip anyway, why not spring for the drone? Now how can I keep the wife from divorcing me when I have two drones show up within 7 days?

I had it my hand at the flagship store in HK and yes, it made a few people looking at it, asking questions and even got to hold it, flip out it's arms, etc...into instant pre-orders. It's an amazing piece of engineering cramming all that is in a P4 into a smaller form factor.
I'm only sad I didn't also pre-order that first weekend and waited a few more days as now I'm in the 2nd batch. Can't wait to pick it up at the store and crossing my fingers I can get it closer to the end of October.

I didn't mean sooner than the 15th, I meant with the first batch that ships out, it would make sense that they would want the beta testers to get their Mavic's as soon as possible. In any case it will be the 15th in China in 30 minutes, so shipping should start sometime in the next 18 hours or so.

Understand, BUT also understand that is shipping doesn't start today for you then don't be upset.
Some people have been told that their orders will not make the first batch even though they preordered.I don't work for customer service or the online store so only they will have better info.
My guess is maybe they had tens of thousands for the first batch but hundreds of thousands ordered.
Again, take what I say with a grain of salt as I'm only guessing.

That's awesome you got to see and touch it.
When I first held a P4 I was amazed and it felt nothing like a P3 and felt so well built.
But when I first held a Mavic I was absolutely blown away as it looks and feels like it was built by Boeing.
It's even more spectacular to fly
I cannot wait until you all start getting them and get to fell the same feeling.

lol sounds like fun but i have a feeling they will not be to happy with my "budget" christmas when i have an expensive drone. plus i don't have kids or a wife bc I'm still to young lol.
