I was in the French sporting goods retailer, Decathlon, today and noticed a low, collapsible table in the camping section - a little larger than a serving tray.  They cost 9 € and work well as a landing pad.  Mention this as I know Decathlon operates in a number of other countries as well.

nice but only useful if you are travelling by car

I have the same thing made by Hi-Gear from GoOutdoors, very handy to have in the car. You can also sit on it after taking off
