Now we get firmware delivered from DJI via Assistant 2 there is no way to revert to an older version if the "latest" release is crap... or am i missing something here. I cant find anyway to make a backup of exiting version "1" and already the update in DJI GO 4 since January has lost a few items i was already enjoying. Back in the Phantom 3 there was always previous release i could download and reinstall.

So how can i do this with the I2? The code is not loaded on my computer and goes to the I2 direct...

I thought there was a factory reset option. I assumed that would restore to factory firmware. Not sure how you would jump back one version though.

Unless the FW version you like to roll back to is available in Assistant 2, don't think it is possible to roll back.
