I haven't flown my P3P since last fall and I thought I might go out and give her a spin this week. I'm still on DJI Go 2.64 and the bird is on 1.6 something. I really don't want to ugrade the drone as it works perfectly fine as it is. If I let let the tablet software update, will I still be able to connect to my drone without updating that?

I did the forced app update. I have not updated my AC or my remote FW.

You will have to update your go app, but you don't have to upgrade your firmware. There is a work around out there to be able to use the older versions of the Go app, and I actually did try it because I was kind of good with V2.9, but I haven't had any issues with the new version and to be honest I now use Litchi most of the time anyway.. Most of the reasons to run an older version is regarding the Google maps instead of the Here maps.
