Hello,

Just opened my new P4P+ and took it out on some flights this morning.  WOW, was I shocked when the P4P got 1000 feet away my video feed scambled followed by a loss of signal. Return Home saved me, but coming from a Mavic, what is going on?  My Mavic out of the Box woudl go 1.5 miles.  1000 feet isn't going to cut it.  

Could I have a bad unit??

I picked the P4P + for the better camera, but if this range is all the beter it will do, forget it.  I'll go with an Inspire 2.

Have you checked if you were at 5.8GHz? If yes, try with 2.4GHz - it is by far better in range.

I switched to manual and 2.4. Seemed worse

Have you completed all firmware and software updates?

Just try to fly at a different location, I would say 10 miles away, and test it again.

John, may I know have you tried to fly it in another open place?
And please adjust the antenna to the optimal range during the flight, here are the screenshots for your reference:

I never knew there where different positions for the antennas , everything i have read on here shows a totally different thing..

I don't understand this.  Why would bending the antenna forward help 5.8ghz reception?  It's definitely possible to design an antenna differently so it deals with 5.8ghz better than 2.4ghz, or vice versa, but I've never seen one that is designed for both frequencies based on the angle.  

Any explanation/details as to why this provides a benefit?

The interference rejection capability for 2.4G and 5.8G is different, to bend the antenna forward when it works with 2.4G will reduce the interference as much as possible.

The antenna bending forward shown in your diagram earlier, it isn't for the 2.4GHz?

It's for 2.4G, sorry for the wrong typing.
Please adjust the antenna as the screenshots when working in different channels.

Hi John,  I have both the Mavic and P4P+ and like you am frustrated with the range on the P4P, its half that of the Mavic! I do have 2 things left to try, changing the antenna as shown by Natalia and ordering a straight RC from DJI without the intergrated screen. For versatility and quiteness and a lot more fun the Mavic wins hands down, yes I know the camera is not as good but overall the winner.

I am thinking of returning mine.  I wanted the better camera.  It's a great camera, but the range is garbage.  I wonder if the Inspire 2 is any better?  Really wish I knew.
