Does this lens need a balancing ring? The chart does not say it does but, if I add an ND filter, won't it through the balance off?

Thanks,
Tom

It needs a both a 37mm 8g and an 37mm 6g, if you fit a filter then remove the 37mm 6g ...not sure where your looking but the X5S show these in the manual

I use a Tiffen .6 and .9 ND (not at once). The lens balances well with them. For photos when I do not want ND, I use a a couple of step up rings. start with 37 and go up till the lens is balanced, it also works well as a lens hood.

I saw some chart on line here. Guess I should have looked at the manual. I plan to use the lens hood as well but that is pretty lite.

Thanks,
Tom

I received the lens yesterday. Still waiting on the balance rings but, not really sure I need them. I also bought a lens hood and with it attached it is almost perfectly balanced. I placed a few rubber bands around the hood to compensate. There are no filters on it right now and that will obviously change things. I'll need at least an ND-8.

I've  used several times with filter, lens balances perfect.  Forgot the weight.  No rings for me.

If you add an ND filter to this, you'll not need a balance. It's rear heavy when it's added, but a slim ND will balance it perfectly.
And just to add: This lens is probably the best purchase I've made in years.
