found this video on youtube. it's not mine but very interesting video if you ever wanted to know what happens if you cut motors in mid air then try to turn back on.
I wonder how long is the interval between the stop CSC and before the start CSC will be recognised. I'm sure if you are just mashing the controls, it wouldn't work. So there would be a minimum recoverable height. Anyone game to test this?

I think this could be easily tested with the Mavic firmly on the ground. You could test consecutive CSC commands at various time intervals to see how much of a wait is necessary between stops and starts.
This guy, Chris I believe, is one of my favorite VLOGers. He definitely gets ya on the edge of your seat with the things he does. I like that he pushes the envelope, like in this vid, doing the things we all wonder about but are too afraid to try. Thanks man... keep 'em coming!
I saw this yesterday and someone asked him how much height he lost in between shutting off the motors, to then turning them back on, mid air and the motors spinning fast enough to regain height.
All in all, he was at 400FT, he lost 140FT, when motors got shut off and then a further 50 FT as Mavic was recovering during throttle up. So he lost practically half his height.
I don't get why this feature exists. It's risky to shut off the motors during flight. I understand you may need it -yeah, in case of an emergency helicopter coming, or whatever reason- but instead of this I would just provided a similar feature but with auto-resume after 5 seconds or so. So you can get out of the way but still keep the drone safe.
