Hola... you are off to a great start. As a cinematographer-turned-drone cinematographer, I have one suggestion that will immediately improve your video. ONLY (and I mean ONLY) include parts of your footage where the drone is smoothly in motion. The ego can get in the way sometimes with making edits... you can become enamored with a part of a clip because you like the scene, but if the drone is bouncing around, or panning erratically, or you are adjusting the yaw of the bird to find your angle, cut those scenes. ONLY include the moments where you absolutely nailed a silky smooth motion. When you are learning, this will mean that you will leave more clips on the floor than you will include in your reel.
My demo reel includes a few clips where I see the unwanted motion of the drone affect the visuals, and as soon as I get more footage I will be replacing those scenes. For the most part, my drone reel only includes the rock solid shots, and it makes a huge difference.
One thing I wish the RC had was a wheel for each direction (up/down, rotation, sideways flight) that allowed you to ONLY affect one direction. For example, If I want to send the bird sideways (sideways dolly shot) and I use the stick, I will almost positively accidentally move the stick an extra millimeter up or down, causing the motion to be more erratic. So what I will do is put my finger on the black base (at the bottom of the stick) and uncomfortably push that instead of the stick when I want the bird to move only one direction without accidentally causing unwanted rotation or sideways motion. This little trick is especially helpful if you decide (when editing) that you want to speed up the shot. Little tiny unwanted motions look really bad when you edit the scene to play in fast motion (which I do on about 80% of my video).
If you wanna check out my reel, here is the link... www.talkingboxdmg.com scroll down and select the "Aerial Sizzle Reel" . Although it isn't perfect flying, I really try to avoid the shots where unwanted motion becomes a distraction... to me, those shots "break the spell" that I am trying to cast over the viewer of the video.
Anyway, just keep flying.... keep shooting... keep editing... and be SUPER choosy about which clips make it into your reel.
