What are the rules and regulations for drones in Namibia? Where are the NFZ locations? Can you fly a Mavic Pro in Namibia, and if you can't, why?
Thanks,
Yhadar

Looks like you can fly in Namibia, but you will need permission, 150 feet is max height and other rules are similar flying over people, buildings  etc

Hi mate. Just went 5 weeks through namibia.. so much space! Couple of things apart from the usual common sense we adherred to.
Dont fly in parks. Simply leave the animals alone. Also be up front with wardens and gates about hvng a drone. Show em u didnt take footage and its all good.
Dont chase animals like an idjit.. few tossers about buzzing animals. Leave that to professionals or Sir David Attenborough lol.
Take the time to pull over and fly around and also follow your 4wd, can get amazing footage and usually no one is around.
Its so ridiculously easy to avoid flying over people with the expansive areas so no problem their...
If ur near a camp go Waaay out of the way before filming. Coz its so 'empty' its exceptionally easy to ruin the tranquility as sound can travel very well. Bit of extra courtesy had great unexpected benefits.

Your footage is going to be amazing.

Hi jaffanz - Your trip sounds awesome! Did you have any issues with customs upon arrival at the airport, or were you able to get written approval beforehand?

Hi there.
Firstly you need to apply with Namibia Civil Aviation for an RPA for your drone. Private use is N$1500 and Commercial is N$4500 per drone. You also need to tell them where and when you will be flying so basically a temporary use of airspace needs to be applied for. This is supposed to be done 4 weeks in advance of trip. No Drones in any National Park, even when you think you are alone on your 4x4.
You should not have any problems at customs with your drone.
Ask permission before you fly is a common courtesy here on privately owned property and like jaffanz said leave the wildlife alone.

The laws for Namibia are quite strict since the country has had a lot of issues with people buzzing animals on the reserves. There is a permit required to bring your drone into the country, otherwise, it will be held at the airport until your departure. To get the permit you will need to provide a list of all the locations you intend to fly your drone. The permit can be obtained through the Namibia government directly, or we can obtain one for you for a small fee.
