so i live in canada and i fly a mavic pro and i plan to use it for personal use than comercial. so do i have to register it, and if i am travelling to the U.S and i plan to fly do i have to register also.
I believe the US just decided that mavic size drones do not have to be registered. As far as in Canada I couldn't comment as I do not know the regulations there

When did this change? I got mine earlier this year and had to register it. I'm in Texas.

Nope...just got mine and still had to register with the FAA.
As a hobbyist, you are not required to register with FAA. As a commercial pilot, you are required to register your drone and have your 107 license. This link also talks about foreigners using their drones in the US. https://www.faa.gov/uas/faqs/
