Everyone
Being new to this flying thing, I just wanted to know what updates you have made or would like to make that have been cool or worthwhiile to your flying rig. This would include but certainly not limited to decals, skins, dyeing, add-on/upgraded parts.

Can't wait to see what people have come up with!

Things I have done:
-Painted it black
-Added lights-Added a Flytrex data logger
-Added a Trackimo GPS tracker
-Installed a QuickRelease system so I can change or remove the camera.
Because I have to much time on my hands I have a website that documents my Phantom:

Already been,
Diagnosed as "Moss Balls" caused by too much inclimate weather...Some good exposure (more exposure to the sun anyway) will clear them right up!

I see on your blog the Champ ultra micro is now in your fleet.  Fly it yet?  I don't see any Scotch tape or epoxy repairs.

Oh... to stay on topic, I added prop guards with the front ones dyed red, and a "REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT" ribbon on the gimbal clamp.

can you see that the props are dyed when they are spinning?

Also, I thought I saw somewhere that people were adding something on when it fell into the water so they could recover it?

Now that is definitely a benefit...sitting on the front porch, cool breeze blowing, icy cold beer in hand and a Phantom keeping watch over the domain.  What a life.

IMHO, the first thing you should consider are:

gimbal saver
gimbal guard
lens hood

After that anything goes. Those and the prop guards at least make it more certain your bird will survive a bit longer without major repairs - leaving you $$ to spend on decals....

Holy Mackerel JATO! I had to bookmark that page, it'll take a few MONTHS to read it all, but well worth it I'm sure. I did check out one of your night videos too. Very nice! That stadium looks like it could be seen from the moon! I might not have gotten far enough DOWN THE PAGE to find out where your audio is coming from, I think I saw something about being able to swap out cameras, but MAN that thing sounds like a big flippin' helicopter! What's up wit dat? Wow!   Barney

UAVBits Inertia Guard

Killer Rc Gimbal Guard

a guard and saver are the same thing.  There are many versions of these.  I use the Killer RC one and can say that after my crash, the part of my gimbal protected by the guard stayed intact. (the rest was toast though)

Although it probably has been given an incorrect name, some "bottom protectors" are called gimbal guards or savers....you can make your own or buy cheap ones (acrylic) or good ones (carbon fiber).

They prevent a landing on rocks, stumps, trees, etc. from hitting the cam and gimbal. Mine already saved me once.

Yes, forgot about that distinction.  Sorry.  I have a carbon fiber whichever it is as well as the killer RC  gimbal guard.  The carbon fiber saver can be purchased at UAV Bits as well as many other places.

Here are some of my upgrades. Include gimbal guard, trackimo and controller mod that gets me 2 miles even over many neighborhood Wi-Fi's as interference, can't wait until I get it in the mountains and desert, hopping for 3 miles at least.

You need the Vision Plus controller with the thumb wheel. It has the simulator / buddy box connector hole in the center of the back panel.

This is the mapping:

Cool website. I noticed on one of your pics. The GPS tracker you mounted on your landing gear leg. It has your address on it "Kennesaw" Ga... I live in Acworth just up road from you. I just started flying drones and only had mine about 2 months. I also have the same landing gear setup, but UNABLE to find a carry / storage box that is tall enougth. I dont have allot of time on my hands. So I havent done anything with mine yet. I do like the paint idea. I may paint mine a dark color as well.
