why does everything seem sooooo much closer while in flight then it really is? is this a settings issue, or just something i need to get use to?. im not zoomed in at all...but things just seem overly closer then they should, whats going on?

Are you coming from any drone or camera? What Im trying to ask is because maybe you're comparing it with the way it looks from a Phantom or a Gopro. The Mavic has a narrow field of view making things appear closer than a Phantom's camera or a Gopro.

the sensor size and the field of view of the mavic's camera... it effective is adding something like 1.45x zoom because of the smaller sensor and narrower FoV

The FOV for Mavic is 78.8° 28 mm (35 mm format equivalent) f/2.2, if you have other lenses with greater FOV, you might see a big difference. But the Mavic Pro's lens is the most optimized version at present, can not be changed, and only support 2 times digital zoom.
