Device: Samsung S8 official firmware

When I first download the Dji Go4 from Play Store, it's good, and the version is gpphone
After a few days, an update will show up in the Play Store and if I let it update, it will become gptablet version and all layout will be screwed up.
I'll have to uninstall/reinstall the app to revert back to gpphone version which I can use.
This basically make the Go4 App unusable for me.


Seriously Dji is the company with the worst software quality/support I have ever seen.
Get your stuff together Dji, especially since your product costs 1.5K and not some cheap toy.

Not to mention the app is always running in the background draining my data/battery.
Why, just why? It's not a messenger app why do you have to run in the background 24/7
certainly the worst app I've ever come across in years.

I'm using the tablet version on my Samsung Note 3 and I love it because I can see both radar and map/FPV at the same time. I also running some rooted auto customization that does these:

+disable-charge
+airplane-mode
+force-screen-on
+force-max-brightness
+force-orientation
+force-tablet-mode
+force-fullhd
It also ensures DJI GO 4 app not left running when exited.

I don't really mind tablet version if it properly display the signal indicators. They are way too small on my phone to be any useful

Yes it's weird, probably the play store service mistakenly detects your S8 with a different DPI. 300 DPI and lower for tablet versions. My phone has 480 DPI but I auto force it down when DJI GO 4 app runs, then auto revert when the app exits.

Apparently no one from DJI will officially address the problem?

After last update can't use DJI Go4 and Dji Go apps, they showing error about screen scale and resolution! Re-installed 100 times!!! No effect! Changed screen resolution, also no effect! DJI solve this issue asap!!! We can't fly!!! Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge device.

You're blaming the wrong device.  DJI can reasonably be expected to code for standard devices using standard layouts as defined in the android APIs.  They can't reasonably be expected to work in all possible combinations of non-standard, non-supported layouts that a manufacturer implements on a whim.

Ultimately, you should have bought something that at least pretends to use proper android.

Same here.... and quick shot modes doesn´t show SPEED BAR on S8 (maybe a resolution issue)

Don't forget, that for example Galaxy S7 Edge, in the list of recommended devices from DJI side.
It means that it HAS TO work smoothly with the DJI Go. No matter what samsung doing in his updates, DJI has to adjust to it. Otherwise it has to be removed from the recommeded device list.

Look at photo... in S8 not this bar.

Where can I download current version DJI Go 4 App manually for my device?
Tried to do it via dji.com, but it downloads very slow, approx 8 hours for downloading DJI Go App 4.....

You can download it to the file to your computer first then move the apk to your device. Or try to check in your app manager to see if there is the mobile device version.

I've tried to download it via DJI.COM, but unfortunately the link to the DJI Go 4 app doesn't work....

Just to verify, you download it on this web: http://www.dji.com/cn/mavic/info#downloads, right? It works for me.

On this issue, we have to communicate with Google and confirmed that due to the dynamic resolution of Samsung S7 & S8, resulting in the Google Play Store chose the wrong app.
You can solve this problem by doing the following:
1. Settings -> Display -> Screen resolution, set the resolution to FHD (1920x1080)
  2. Settings -> Applications -> Google Play-> Storage -> Clear data
  3. Uninstall DJI GO, reopen Google Play, search and download DJI Go

We are currently working with google to solve this problem. We apologize for the issue, and we'll post a fix for this issue as soon as possible.

Solutions 1-3 mentioned in the post #20 don't  work at all.
The only one way is to download app from the DJI website and then install it manually.

even if it works I don't wanna use FullHD res just for this one app. QHD is much crispier on S8

And since I've updated to Oreo on my S8, there's a "prevent app from running in the background settings".
That solved the battery draining problem of the Dji Go4 app for me.
It's still a dirty workaround tho, really hope Dji would sort this out.
