The Noon Gun has been a historic time signal in Cape Town, South Africa  since 1806. It consists of a pair of black powder Dutch naval guns,  fired alternatingly with one serving as a backup. The guns are situated  on Signal Hill, close to the centre of the city.

some general advise about flying on top of signal hill.
There is often a lot of air traffic (helicopters, RC flight club and paragliders and seagulls)  who operate along, above and below the spine of that hill.
And the wind blows pretty strong up there.
The noon day guns are half way down the hill and although still in the wind, no other air traffic to worry about.
Top the hill completely differant story - is it legal? i do not know.
If you are newish to flying then absolutely avoid a windy day -
and avoid the people wearing green uniforms

Thanks a lot! Is Cape of Good Hope absolutely "no go"? Even if I go down the beach to hide from everyone? Just trying to understand how they manage to catch drone operators.

Cape of Good Hope is in a National Park.  There is a "No Drones allowed" sign at the park gate.  That said the wind is usually very strong at the Cape.
On a different note, I was surprised to see Mavics & Sparks for sale at the Cape Town and Joburg airports.

Thank you all. I wrote to Sanparks, asking first if I can film with small amateur handheld video camera. They want me to fill in some forms and I think pay some fees. I think it is quite ridiculous because I am a private person travelling on my own.

Thanks. I did ask Dudley (officer firing Noon Gun) and he allowed me to fly. All went OK.
