The controller for inspire 1 and now the new Phantom 3 is very expensive, like 700 dollars...  So how can it be that the new Phantom 3 that costs only 1200 bucks be real ?? And the 1080p version that is only 999 dollars.  How in the world can they include such a fancy expensive remote in a creap bundle?

It is an amazing price point for both units.  I have been flying the Advanced unit, 1080p, for about a week now.  Truly and amazing craft and a worthy replacement for the P2.

called the way technology development goes. They had to recoup the cost to develop all this technology with the inspire. Now they have it refined user less expensive parts, have the assembly process figured out etc. How robust a PV3 will be is an unknown at this point.  Only time will tell.

We can debate the differences between the Inspire and the P3.  I have both.  The P3 is not the Inspire by a long shot.  It is closer to my P2Z3 with Lightbridge that if you look at all the components would be about the price of the Inspire.

The controller is precisely the same tho.

Any reason to get the 4k over the 1080p?  Is 4k really going to make that much more of a difference? Im leaning towards the advanced myself as 1080p at 60 should look very very good.

I normally film in 1080p with my Inspire.  That is why I requested the Advanced P3.  I am missing the P3 Professionals backpack though.

You do not need the 4k unless you have a 4k capable pc and 4k tv/computer Monitor.

Not likely.  But they have surprised me before.

1080p at 60fps is a very good format for aerial video.   I had hoped for a few more Megapixels for the stills though to allow for cropping.  The addition of glasnost (sp?) sats is also a good and simple enhancement.

If the professional model lets you select 1080 as an alternate setting or even 720P/60 that would be cool as you kinda have some future proofing there and you would get the backpack which is probably $150-$200.00,
When I am ready it will likely be the Professional for me....

LOL.  I think you need to go back to Econ class.  They are in the business not the non-profit of making and selling products.  The new price for the offer seems to be a very good one.  It is prefect to get us P2 user to buy another quad.  The Inspire is a great machine but at 3,000+ not in my budget nor most of the P2 users.  If it was they wold not have to introduce it.

BTW-If you own an Inspire why would you want to buy this?

I would contact your dealer and see what their return policy is.  The P2 is a great product and produces great video and photos.  The P3 adds lightbridge and a 4K camera.  If you fly within LOS and don't have the hardware of software to process 4K then you are fine with what you have.

I want to buy this becouse i travel alot in the mountains here in Norway. The inspire is great to film real estate and all that but i cant put it in a backpack. I love the portability with the Phantom series. I wil not buy it now becouse of the controller it comes with. Then i have 3 of the same controllers.

The Inspire does not have a backpack on Amazon?  Interesting they have everyother type of quad I am shocked not Inspire.

So if you want an extra controller for Inspire, get the P3 Advanced and get the drone for $300 more? Sounds like a deal to me.

I wish some people would do their homework before posting stuff like this. You're really not helping anyone by posting inaccuracies!

The controller that is delivered with the Inspire one may look the same, however it is not the same.

- The inspire one controller has more ports, eg. HDMI out
- The inspire one controller has a GPS receiver built in
- The inspire one controller can function in master/slave mode wireless using the 5.8ghz band. this allows for dual controller operation where a second person operates the camera.

Who says that the phantom 3 controller will even bind with the inspire one?

The inspire one and the phantom 3 are two completely different beasts, and honestly, I don't understand why people are even comparing them.

I think Tahoe-ed mentioned it is a different set of electronics inside the controller from the inspire. So you would only have 3 that APPEAR the same.

Even if it the same rc was used , and its not I am confused why at 999 for the new p3 having a rc that appears the same as an inspire rc would make you not buy it if you need or want one.

confused on the logic.

Can I connect a second Lightbridge receiver as slave (for an extra monitor) to the Phantom 3 system  since it is LB based? Is that possible with the Inspire 1?

Mr. Tahoe_Ed, I ordered the  P3 Advanced, after pouting for a day or so. I finally asked myself if the Inspire gave me everything DJI promised for the $3K I paid for it. I have to say yes...so the changed price point is somewhat irrelevant It's kind of like the parable of the vineyard.....that was the price...I agreed to pay it...DJI fulfilled their end....why be angry at those who waited? I really don't expect to get the great handling that the Inspire gives, but I am hopeful that the P3 will be a more stable craft than the P2. In your opinion, does the P3 handle well in wind? How about the Vortex effect? Is the autoland soft (I find the Inspire autolands a little too fast)?
