A more valid question may be to guess what size lots come to them from the production sources? I would guess at least a couple thousands - also, remember that dealers are in line for many tens of thousands too! We could do the backwards math about their projections for this year...but I'm too tired now. I'll do it later....but we are probably talking up to a MILLION units this year. That's 20,000 a week, making your order number far up in the pack!

When the iPhone 6 came out there were calculations and pictures of the planes that would fly them here.....wow! Lots of phones on each plane load......

If the order numbers are actually in sequence they must be getting slammed.  I made two orders about midnight central time and 30 minutes apart  xxxxxxx29404 and xxxxxxx38237 so that means 8833 orders in that time!

Just noticed my CC payment went through and my order invoice now has a "Customer Reference Number"  of  4055.  This seems more likely to be a possible queue number, no?   I placed my order at 3pm on the day of the announcement, for reference.

DJI's customer service system is ancient and super slow compared to the companies that DJI wants to be at the same level with, like Apple and Amazon. They need to grow up if they want to grow out.  I had ordered the P3PRO from DJI and they immediately charged my card for the full amount, unlike Amazon, and then told me that my wait time was until mid-May or later. I cancelled my order and placed one with Amazon who offered me a no-interest payment deal and $70 off the order. The best part is that they won't charge until they ship in mid-May, so I don't have payment or intrest for items not yet received.

I believe the order number is created right when you order. However, the queue is determined by the order in which they confirm payment. It looks like the customer reference number is given once payment is confirmed. Mine is 4352.

Make sure that extra insurance you purchased covers drones - I've seen Amazon offer it on products that do not qualify. Just a heads up!

Hhmmm. PayPal was not recognizing my credit card off and on Wednesday. Over the course of about one hour late in the afternoon (CDT, North America) I had order numbers of 056,939; 086,681 and 102,270.

IF those are sequential, they sold almost 50,000 units in that hour -- which have been doubly busy because of people getting off work and having time to order. But I doubt it.

Looking at other people's numbers posted above, my numbers don't really jibe with theirs.

The final one went through 6:25 p.m. (CDT) and my customer reference number was 612.

Also, have dealers already been allocated or are we competing with them? Dealer A calls and orders 20 units; Dealer Z calls and orders 15 units...????

I'll wait until they have several updates and get it for A LOT cheaper than the current prices. I'm one of those who doesn't really need to have the latest & greatest as soon as it comes out.

I honestly don't see the allure in 4k (YET) given there really aren't many folks who even have the ability to leverage it as intended. More of a sucka's game if you ask me.

If you're a photographer, there are plenty of reasons to be excited, with or without the 4k. Much more control over HOW the exposures are made -- not just in the aiming of the camera.

Now, where's that damn zoom lens??

I ordered within half an hour after the event finished and my Customer Reference Number is 47.

My Customer Reference Number is 10. Does that mean I was 10th?

So, checking the math......it depends on how the time zones and processing work, but it seems to be thousands of sales per day now. Also, vast numbers are going to dealers (probably some orders of 1,000 or more at a shot).....

I say they will sell 1/2 a million by New Years!

We're going to need a real math whiz to project out.......

We would have to guess the %'s at various places around the globe since they sell 24 hours a day - then we'd have to assume that the pace of orders is growing each day. We'd have to add the dealer and distributor BIG orders to it.

Doing the math....checking the spreadsheet...firing up the big Univac......it comes up with:

I'm at 11900 and the number you guys want to look after is the Customer Reference Number, I got confirmation from support that that number is the queue.

My customer number is 7285 the but I'm concerned about DJI's 7-day return window and level of customer service. I'm thinking about canceling with DJI and buying from Amazon even if is $80 additional in tax, and will likely take longer.

Usually the 7 day window starts from when you receive your product, not when they send it.
