Took pano photos indoors without any problem.
Went into garden but DJI Go 4 showed message “warning:cannot enter pano mode” when I pressed button to take photo. Repeated attempt a couple of times with same message.
Went back indoors and pano mode worked again without problems.

Unable to find any references to the likely causes of this message. Would appreciate a link to documentation.

Can it be, you started the bird with the mode switch to Sport?

Please tell me the version of your app and the firmware information. BTW, what is the model of your device?

DJI Elektra - Thank you but there were no other error messages, also non-pano photos worked perfectly.
DJI Go 4 - v4.1.12 (2964) however the Apple app store shows current version is now 4.1.15 but no option to update is provided.
Spark - v01.00.0600
IPhone 6+ iOS 11.0.3 (15A432)

Thanks Elektra. The warning message appears consistently with every attempt to take pano in GPS mode & never when in only Atti mode. Non-pano photos are always ok.
GPS identifies I am in an Authorisation zone. I am authorised so flying & camera work normally. Only pano is prevented.

The inability to use pano mode exists also exists outside the Authorisation Zone but which is still subject to ” The aircraft is in a Warning Zone (Class D). Fly with caution” message.

No, sport mode was not entered at any time.
It works indoors but not outdoors so presumably it has something to do with GPS. It flies & takes non-pano photos ok outdoors so GPS only stops pano mode, not anything else.

Can you check the source code? Does the warning message “Warning:cannot enter pano mode”  come from the Spark firmware or is it the GO4 app refusing to send the mode change command to the Spark firmware?

did u take off same way indoors and outside? - in tripod and gesture u dont have pano

Sorry about huge font size, it came as a complete surprise! I assume that I cannot edit the post to something more sensible?

Have got Spark replaced by Argos. New one does NOT have warning message under exactly same conditions. However it does have stability & IMU calibration problems so it has been replaced by a third Spark.
The Spark#3 has same warning message as first one did! Anyone else unable to take pano outdoors? It works great as long as no GPS? (Problem exists even far away from NFZs & not in tripod or sport modes).

Have tried in UK Lake District nowhere near NFZs. Same message.

Have found a ‘work-around’. Put Spark into ‘beginner mode’. Also used RC camera button rather than Go4 camera button to take pano after setting pano mode in Go4.

Hey there... just had the same problem today. On the Mavic though.... But I don't have any max-distance set and max-height was set to 500.
I was flying on the top of a mountain (about 2200m) and the drone was about 30m in front and 30m above. I tried to make a spherical pano but it wouldn't let me...
In german the Error was "WARNUNG: Pano-Modus konnte nicht aufgerufen werden" but I guess it's the same as "Cannot enter pano mode".
Should I also provide you some logs? If so, which ones? The ones I can gather with the Mac-Desktop Tool?

I fly in Class D pretty much all the time (5.5km away from the nearest airport) and I can take panos no problem. the only time that it doesnt work is when im in sport mode

When I started this thread the breakthrough point came with the ‘max distance’ setting for the Spark. No probs since then but I don’t have a Mavic so can’t say what the solution is for them.

It was not the first time in D-Class, but the first time where the Mavic was unable to switch modes.

No error messages, just the notification that the device is unable to switch modes...

Since I dont have the mavic, others here might be able to help you. Happy flying!

Check your maximum flying distance. Set it to a large number or turn it off. This fixed it for my spark for some crazy reason.
