Mark each motor and then remove them. I clipped the cable just shy of the joint, so I have the cable colour correct when resoldering them.

During the strip down I inspected my shell for cracks, I have had the plates for the prop guards fitted prior to my first flight and the shell shows no signs of cracks.

Out with the old shell and in with the new kit. All the major components are individually bagged for the P3S DJI shell ready for installation in the Phanvic kit.

I have decided to incorporate the existing LEDs from the Phantom into the kit. I drilled a 5mm hole in the arm, hot glued the LED board to one side and the lens to the other, should hold up OK.

Next step is installing the kit LEDs and then the motors.

I piggy backed the LEDs, installed the antennas in front right and rear left arms. Arms are finished.

I imagine that in this installation, the antennas are laid out horizontally in the arms? This would not be a good orientation for long distance flight.

Yes  I agree 100%.....and all those wires  around the antenna should have a terrible effect on transmitting and receiving signal strength ....and raise the standing wave ratio greatly resulting in wasted transmitting power... !    a strange set Up i agree for a antenna.

I tend to agree, but others are not reporting any significant loss of range. Time will tell, and I mostly only fly less than a Kilometre from me.

3 major changes: I ditched the piggy back LEDs and am now just running the LEDs and lenses I salvaged from my P3S, I don't know why but they seem to have been causing connection issues. As soon as I cut the connections everything was back to normal. I have taken the antenna's out the arms, I am going to mount them externally, the flat panel antenna's are also going to be mounted externally, there just isn't a 'good' place to mount them inside the shell and have good reception. The new shell is very angular so they wont look out of place.  P3 Adv or Pro has a 'place' for everything, you will have to be creative with a standard.

The screw post under the main board (circled) interferes with the wifi reconnect micro switch and has to be sanded down flush or it will be permanently pressed in.

Flat panel antenna's mounted in the top shell.

Stick antenna's externally mounted, rear left: front right. Drilled a 4mm hole and then hot glued them in position.

Existing LED lenses mounted. The front arm lenses had to be sanded down so the rear arms clear them when they are folded.

Top shell screwed in place, and it is looking really nice.

Once everything was secured, I booted it all up and took a walk as far away from the Phanvic as I could to see if anything dropped out. I have Argtek antenna and Icarus installed. The Phanvic was in my back spare bedroom and I got to the bottom of the back garden and reception and video was perfect.

did the motors fired up? I tried my mod with Phantom 3 4k didn't work, then I went to buy a Professional and gives me error ESC, something happened to the board while connecting maybe, I contacted DJI for help and they said maybe compass is having interference.
Just saw your posting so I will try it again with the 4k to see if it works for me. Thank you for your very detailed posting.

Also seems to me that beings  the antennas in the AC are flat out (horizontal)  then the RC units antennas need to be Horizontal also for the best reception !....wonder if instructions included in that idea ?

I have mounted the antenna's vertical, one front right and the other rear left in the shell. You can see them 'poking' out in the set of photos. Mounting them horizontal in the arms led to horrible reception. The body swap was designed around the Pro/Adv so the arms are designed to have the 4 flat antenna's in them at a 45 degree angle. There was also no provision for the 2 flat panel antenna's of the standard relating to video feed.

Change the .zip extension to .stl

I know this us an old post, but does anyone know if the stl files were ever made available for the entire conversion? I'd like to be able to modify the designs based on what others have done and also so I can reprint when I crash.   )
