Is there a trick to this? I have followed the on screen help with ZERO success. Certainly doesn't seem as idiot proof as it appears on DJI ads. Please help...

Yes. Followed the height and distance guidelines, still a no-go.

Double press the power button, the RC or the Spark? And at what point should I try that, during flight?

You must always hold spark facing you in palm. When switched on fan will start. Then press button on batt twice. Wait till rear lights flash 6 times ( gps lock), and look into camera . It will take off. Then use slow palm gestures when front lights are green.
You cannot use gestures (even if you have phone/rc linked) any other way.App settings are irrelevant if you use spark only.

AHA! I will give this a go shortly and will let you know the outcome... Thanks (cheers)

If you do use app you can enable it in menu, but there's not much point since you're in control anyway. It's for quick selfies in my view.
But if it loses you ( it only tracks you for 15 metres or so ) you can rescue it with rc/phone.

Sounds a bit sketchy. Knowing that the tracking feature uses image contrast to maintain the target, it is hit and miss based on the conditions (dark on dark, light on light, light on dark, etc). I don't plan on using it too much anyway, but I appreciate the input. I will still give it a test run just so I know that it works...

Yes I did... but it no longer works like it used to. I have done it hundreds of times with succes in the past. since last firmware update.... it's Glitchy to say the least.

Hi there, here is a video about gesture piloting for your reference.

I use this allot, yesterday in the park between a break of the snowing here in the UK I had the Spark up capturing video of me and the little one playing in the snow. Awesome. Sometimes have trouble to get it to fly away and start tracking but otherwise good. Always room for improvement.

I did get it to work, just took some coaxing. I'm no Jedi, don't figure that I will be using the feature much. I'm a bit old school, like using the RC. Thanks for your input! Cheers...

Not worth messing with in my opinion. If you have a RC, use it... Hand gestures are for lazy millennials! No offense if you fall in to that category!
