I can’t say for sure but I’m suspecting the avoidence system is not working. 2 times so far my Mavic almost crashed in to a tree right in front of it.  The plane was in the proper speed and mode. It came with in about 2 inches. I had to manually use maneuvering to avoid.hh

How big was the tree? ~ Bonsai size or General Sherman

What about the lighting?

Assuming that you have disabled it explicitly or implicitly (e.g., by using Sport mode), the front OA distance will be shown in the Go app when you're close enough to something to trigger it. If you aren't seeing that then you need to make sure it's enabled, and if you're sure it's enabled but it still isn't working then you should contact DJI.
