You need to be on PPM...
If that does not fix things:
Since you have been able to connect to the Assistant, confirm that you are able to use the U channel to change from Atti to GPS, etc.
If you see the FM slider moving, disconnect from the Assistant.
Cycle the FM switch (on the right) and do a compass calibration.
Now reconnect to the Assistant and do an Advanced IMU calibration.
That sould clear things up...

when i am in PPM i get no response from the assistance software. when in d bus i get the appropriate response when i move the thumsticks. i can also shift the software from gps to atti etc when in dbus from using the top right switch on my remote. so you're saying if that all works then i just need to do an advanced calibration and cycle the fm switch?

ps. how do i cycle the fm switch! also thanks for getting back to my post.... im really struggling over here

My P1 is PPM, so I can't explain the d bus.
I rarely fly it anymore, and it is from the first P1 production run...
Perhaps the 1.1.1 is dbus...

Edit: I checked, and if your P1 has two antennas, it's dbus, not ppm.
I'm sorry for the confusion.
I'm just not flying the P1 or it's newer derivatives anymore...

I won't question your ability to connect Tx & Rx.
If it works; it works!

Before doing the Advanced IMU calibration, do a compass calibration.
That's the 360 degree dance...
You start it by switching back and forth from Atti to GPS (cycling the FM switch).
The procedure is in the manual...
It just needs to be done prior to the IMU calibration.
It's okay to do it indoors.
Before you fly for the first time, do it at your flying site...

Get back to us concerning success/failure.
We'll help you get things up and flying!
