Today on this Christmas day, I had a daring flight all the way into the arabian sea with the latest firmware SPARK 0.900 and android apk V4.1.8 ( Very old version but  very reliable)
I had covered nearly 3.2 kilometer ( including return distance) with SPARK warning of low battery.

This clearly indicates to me that the SPARK is a versatile drone and fun to play in high tensed situation...

4800 feet max distance is about 1400m
Which is ok, not a bummer, but to expect in FCC, isn't it?
And I think, you could have flown more as 3200m in total, if you wanted.

I do not see problems there. To me the usability of only wifi is the problem, in 4.1.18!

Actually 4800 ft is one way.  Return to be another 4800 ft which means 3 km in total....
No,  i cannot fly more distance as the SPARK gave me a warning that i have only enough battery to return home and it initiated the return home ..

My android apk version is 4.1.8  and not the sick 4.1.18 !!  Wifi was absolutely good...

Aside the battery 'issue', I assumed you could have flown a longer distance, I mean.
But anyway, you are combining a 4 month old GO4 with the newest firmware.
Not the actual GO4, like I thought
Have you ever tried the .14 or .15?
I mean, there IS a valuable function in the firmware from .701 on, the sphere mode.
Which need .14 and .15 , minimum

I tried  this combination of 4.1.14 and SPARK V0.71000...but i faced issues after the third flight from the same location ...As usual the OTG does not work...wifi disconnect and image transmission weak signals....  I also did not use OTG with my old version apk..Only Wifi...

From what i understand is  if you are linked to DJI web servers during your SPARK  flight, above similar problems occur.

Can't confirm that, but flying only otg, .701 and 4.1.14 on my OP5 for over 4 weeks now.
Did my longest flightdistance, all together over 8000m, with it, long max. distance flights (~2km) and lots of high flights, picture shootings, with this combination
For me that is a working setup, right now!

not to forget Dynamic Homepoint. I am on 701 and 15. Good so far. Huawei P8Lite (very cheap) OTG of course...
