Hello I'm new to drones and looking for some advice on which would best suit my needs. I am a farmer and I'm looking to use a drone to inspect crops and irrigation. I currently own a parrot bebop 2 power and I'm looking for a drone that will have higher live video quality so I can inspect crops while in the air.

So my question is, what drone will give me the best live video quality.

The two drones I have been looking at are the dji mavic pro or platinum , and the phantom 4 pro. Are either of these going to be better than the others live feed. I know the phantom 4 will produce better quality videos but I'm not necessarily interested in that, only in the live imiage I'll see while in flight.
Or is there a better option entirely?

Thanks, Spencer

I think Spencer you need to divulge a budget, because there are certainly custom built drones to do exactly what you want, but are they in the dollar value of a Mavic or Phantom....no..
So I think your question comes down to Dollars!

Well I could probably go 2-3k if i could get exactly what I want with the ability to upgrade. I'm not even sure what all I want/can do with a drone in my farming operation. So I'm just dipping my toes in the water trying to find out. I could spend more if I knew that I could use it to become more profitable. I just don't want to spend a bunch and then not find any use that's gonna make it pay off or find out that the one I get isn't what I need, and then have to buy something different. Thanks

I'm hearing you Spencer, for sure.
I just think that coming to a basically hobbyist type forum asking for professional solutions is somewhat convoluted!
Absolutely a DJI product is there for you to do the job, what, Inspire, Matrice, mavic on a dime?
Fully automated, or fly it yourself, do you wanna take it to the dam on ya days off???
There are guys out there that specialise in exactly what you ask!
No affinity apart from a google search, but this one seems nice?

In answer to your question In terms of live feed only - the Mavic series uses ocusync tech which in my experience is better than lightbridge on the P4P - less drop outs and glitches and better range. Also, if you shoot in 2.7K on the Mavic (not 4K) you can set the live feed to 1080p FHD whereas the live feed on the P4 series is only 720p HD. The quality of the live feed will also be effected by the device you use. A modern iPhone (7+, 8+, X) will be better, for example, than an old Android device. That said, the image quality from the Micro SD card will obviously be superior than the live feed and the P4P and P4A has a better camera than the Mavic. The camera on the Mavic and Mavic Platinum is officially the same but again, in my personal experience, the image quality is better on the Platinum than the original MP. So - get a Mavic Pro Platinum edition with an iPhone 7+, set the live view to 1080p FHD and you won't be disappointed.

Well at this stage I'm still considering myself in the hobby stage. So I'm probably gonna stay in the $2000 dollar price range, and try to find out how I can use a drone. Thanks for the link, any info on this is appreciated. So I guess I should just ask whats the best way to get the best live video feed for $2000. Thansk
