I looking to buy a new/refurbished iPad mini 2, 3 or 4 for flying my Mavic Pro.  What are your recommendations, which mini and should I get Wifi and Cellular if I can?

I've been flying all of my DJI platforms with a iPad Mini 4 Cellular  with no issues.  I recently moved up to a CS.  I would recommend getting the latest and greatest model if money isn't an issue.

I use a mini 2 WiFi version with no issues. 2 years now P3A and Mavic.

I'm using Ipad mini 4 wifi. No issues

Cellular isn't mandatory to fly but recommended due to the inbuilt GPS module enabling features like dynamic home point, follow me and to cache maps as you fly in real time. Out of those 3 the Mini 4 is the better one to go for as the processor is faster and will handle the GO 4 app more effectively meaning less glitches and drop outs in the live feed.

Hopefully, you got a discounted price. Last week it was $299 @ Target and this week it's $325 @ Best Buy.

Not cheap but much better than full price of $399

I gave up all i-Devices years ago - then I was having numerous issues w/ my android devices when using my mavic to the point where it was unbearable; so I begrudgingly bought an iPad mini 4 and love that now I don't have a single issue. The iPad mini has become more than just a device for my drones (ground station/dji go) -- so I'd recommend the latest and greatest if it's with in your means since it can do a lot more than help fly your drones.

You want to use the latest as the previous models will eventually fall off the supported devices list like the first Ipad mini has

I couldn't get the Go4 app to work on my old iPad Mini 2, so ordered a new iPad mini 4 128gb wifi. Works a treat.

Loyd, the iPad mini 4 Wi-Fi + Cellular can work well with DJI GO 4 app, no worries.

Screwed up and ordered wrong ipad mini 4 without Cellular.  Picked it up, opened it in the parking lot and discovered I had the wrong one.  I went back into Best Buy and returned it with no problems other than having to order the correct mini since they had none in stock.  Get it tomorrow.
