After weeks of terrible weather today I could fly with my spark. Two fligths went well. The third flight the spark went into Atti mode after a lot of yaw errors. I was able to land in Atti mode but I am very curious what I did wrong and I want to learn how to avoid this the next time. Spark has the laterst firmware and my Iphone 6s the latest IOS. The weather was good, almost no wind. Any tips?

Following this thread with interest. The error you have received are very similar to what some others here have experienced and no explanation has been given by DJI.

Other than taking off with a very low battery temperature I do not believe this to be pilot error. Nothing in the flight record shouts out anything except a malfunction with the drone - especially given that this is your 3rd consecutive flight at the same location with no issues on the first 2 flights. Yep - it would be nice if DJI replied to your post here as I too am interested to see why this happened given that this is not an isolated case.

Batt temp warning at takeoff. Seems odd requiring more than 15 gegrees.

Exactly...the flying environment looks to be ideal.  No buildings, power lines, etc..  The OP was flying at a minimal altitude & distance.

And he even hovered for a while to warm the battery to the required 20c+ and being his third flight in a row the drone would have been warm anyway.

How would the speed of the wind at 100' above the home point cause the drone to experience a yaw error before encountering a compass failure and switching to ATTI mode one second later?

Windspeed was 2 beaufort, temp 7 degrees celsius

Exactly - the wind was not the cause of your incident and bears no relevance to the malfunction.

Just a few observations. I'm keen to learn how to analyse these problems and welcome corrections.

I feel a batt temp of 15 is not very low and I wouldn't fly if that error appeared at start  up. I must say I think it was  a fresh battery looking at the cell voltage.

This is the one issue I have seen with the spark, getting YAW errors and going into ATTI mode. Please DJI inform us as to why it would do this with nothing around to interfere with GPS or Wifi

between 130 secs to 171 secs, gps health dips to zero but csv records only reflect primarily yaw errors. Also satellite counts are still healthy.

Just interested in what is the speed scale on the red track at max. Almost full speed just precedes the gps failure.?

Top speed prior to ATTI mode was at 0.36m/sec

HI Rimza, is this figure made with the data from the flightrecord.txt file?if not, from where did you have this data ?
Just very curious because i am working on a analysis program myself.

yes, easier to see in graphical form. Use CsvView.

Did you look at the compass direction before and after the flight? I mean did the symbol on the screen show the AC was pointing correctly?

At about 3.56, the ac is dislodged in the grass , motors running?

I would work backwards. You have a great big field. Try and reproduce the problem.
Fly upwind  with compass sensor screen selected, close in, and see if compass goes yellow/red with various moves and speeds.

Further to my observations, it could , I say could ,be that after a spell of highish speed, if a turn is instigated purely by yaw input, the spark will continue through inertia straight on for a while. The gps tracking will then be at variance with compass and/or gyro input.

I stopped the motors when the spark landed in the gras, when I walked to the point the spark landed I didn't,  see the spark so I started the engine again and found it.

I hope you will contact dji support, because this is a relevant incident and is second in a row. Lucky you, it is the last in a cue and second where the owner managed to recover the aircraft. I would no doubt be glad your contact dji support and see support itself following with an official statement about it. Curiously if you search the forum you will found the same incident. A guy in Belgium (close to you) in an open field like the one you were flying with a river at his west. Same bit of wind (no wind alarm) and went to atti after a steep turn...and gone with the wind for 500ft.

Hello DJI Elektra, the drone didn't crash, it landed safely. I never had a crash with the spark. I will find out how to export the flight data and black box, then I will send it.
