I'm interested in drone photography and wanted to know more about the actual camera in the Mavic Air.

According to DJI (https://www.dji.com/products/com ... ones?from=mavic-air):
Mavic Pro:  1/2.3'' CMOS, 12.35 MP, 4000×3000
Mavic Air:  1/2.3'' CMOS, 12MP, 4056×3040
     Spark:  1/2.3'' CMOS, 12MP, 3968×2976

So, while all the reviewers say they all have the same size sensor, clearly they are not all the same.

Based on the above specs - Here is my best guess at what the internal sensors are:
Mavic Pro:  Sony IMX377
Mavic Air:  Sony IMX477
     Spark:  Sony IMX286 or IMX386

One thing I learned is that the IMX477 sensor is capable of:

-  60fps@12Mpix 10bit
-  60fps@4K2K 10bit
-  240fps@1080P 10bit

This means DJI could (someday) improve the specs to 60fps (4K) or 240fps (1080) with a simple firmware update.

You might be right about that.
But... I am not sure if they can and will do that.
First, it is not only the sensor, but also the processing power etc. needed for higher data streams.
Next, they (like all tech companies) earn money from sales on new products.
So they need to have a constant stream of buyers.
Sales boost usually comes from new products.
New products need something 'better'.
...
You get the picture.

Agreed.  This also assumes I have guessed the correct sensor based on specs provided by DJI.

As for camera setup, i found this video seemed to have the best tips I've seen so far.
