Mavic Air not working with OnePlus 5 and Android 8.0?

Hi,
The Mavic Air is my first ever drone.
When I unpacked it I said WOW.
Then I tried to connect it and said HOW???

Whatever I tried, the Air just wouldn't connect to my OnePlus 5 running Android 8.0.0
I searched this forum for answers and tried different methods. Only one worked.

I took an old phone of mine, a Sony Xperia Z5 running Android 7.1.1. and got it to connect/communicate with the drone almost immediately.

This meant I could take the drone with me on a short trip, but I would ideally like to use my drone with my every day phone, which has better battery life and much better screen.
And I simply don't want to carry around to phones, with different chargers when using my drone.

Is it a common problem, the Mavic Air not communicating with certain (brands of) phones or is Android 8.0 the problem? And is there a solution.

regards

Did you see the list of supported phones? Yours is not on it.

Like 95% of the phones or not on that supported list.   Way to many phones comming out for DJI to be tested.  ;)

@Willy
Maybe look at post #2 and #11 from this link https://forum.dji.com/thread-134283-1-1.html

I have a Sony Xperia XZ Premium (USB type C) running 8.0 and it works flawlessly.

Could it be the different configuration of USB devices for the OnePlus?
Try turning On "USB debugging" in "developer option" and turn On USB debugging in the Dji GO 4 as well

Man, I didn't know this was still a thing in 2018.

I used to check stuff like this way back in 2006, but not in 2018.

I use One Plus 5T, and my Mavic Air works like a charm....
Just enable USB debugging, and select the USB debugging mode to MIDI,
it will start to connect to the MA RC, just remember, it will connect as soon as you enable USB Debugging, but if you do not change the USB debugging mode to MIDI, the phone starts to charge from the remote and the remote controller looses its battery super quick. I h ad this issue that my RC battery died in just 2 flights.
Happy Flying, MA is a very nice and portable one...
