During  my very first flight over the water, Pacific ocean in Bob, I got a low battery signal it returned home and the drone dropped from 115 feet down to -26 feet just above the water surface.. during the dissent  I was not aware as I was physically looking to spot the drone and could not. When I look back at the iPad and saw only water I turned 360° but could not find the beach. That is when I noticed the minus altitude. I canceled immediately raised up turned around found the house and  manually  returned home.   So, what’s up with my hear loss?  I checked the flight recorder and verified I was in return to home mode and it in fact did drop and stayed in  that mode until I canceled..  would love any advice. I am now completely afraid to try over the water..again.. Just trying to get shots of Whales  this season before they head north soon...

That's why they make floats you can put on the drone.  

Some flight notes...
* did compass dance.
* got notice home point recorded.
* low battery was 30 %.. so not critical.
* good light, weather.
* only about 125 meters from HP
*  RTH altitude set to 20meters... no obstacles around.
