Hey guys, what are the specs of your laptop, RAM, graphics card, and processor that you are using to manage the dji phantom 4pro?

I had a 3 year old $300 Best Buy special laptop that was basically a paperweight and not able to run anything other than Facebook and a bit of porn (lol)
I upgraded to an off lease gaming laptop with an i5 intel dual core and 16gb RAM. It's also got a Radeon  graphics card.

Not gonna lie, I'm not a tech guy, but I can backflip off almost anything. I don't know s*** about f*** when it comes to this stuff. All I want to know is if this laptop is fast enough to process the 4K footage, and be able to edit the stuff with Adobe.

Let me know what your laptop systems are consisting of with your P4P.

Thanks guys!

Last configuration should be enough for editing and rendering 4K videos. You make no mention about your video card, except for the producer which is not as important as the dedicated VRAM it has. I use a 4Gb one and it works seamlessly. You'll improve your system processing speed if instead of a magnetic HDD you can use a SSD device.

Aloha fansf8,

As Matjan indicated, your configuration should be enough.  Do be aware though that the i7 has now given way to the i9 as the fastest basic retail Intel chip.  You are using an i5.  Software products for the current markets tend to cater to the newer technology.

All things said and done though, if you are using Windows 10, the stock video and photo viewer handles 4K real well.  There are also free video players that can be downloaded from the Internet.  Also, when you edit video, look for and use the "Proxy Editing" setting.  This will do a "not-noticed" conversion of your 4K video into a 720p video that you will edit.  The i5 processor and 16 GB of RAM should handle that easy enough.

When the editing is done, you will have to render the edited video.  This will take a while, so much that it is called "cooking" or "baking", "in the oven".  This process is familiar to those who do animation, at least in the old days.  The editing of the 720p version will be transposed to the 4K copy created by the editing program and produce a 4K version of the original 4K video, but edited just like the 720p version.  With all this digital magic, you can imagine why it will take so long.

     Hope this helps!

Aloha and Drone On!

Awesome guys,
So I still have 9 days to return this laptop and exchange it for an i7.  Its a 4 year old off lease that was probably $1500 new, i got it for $450. I may take it back and exchange it for the i7 for $100 more.

The Radeon is a HD 7400M series which i know is not as good as the current, but its still better than stock.

The upgrade to the I7 may be in order.

I do want to know why my video after transfering it is glitchy?  I was filming in 0 degree C?

Try keeping your hands away from your lap area and see if the videos are still jerky.

As others have said your kit is good for 4k , it just comes down to how fast you want it to work ? a few seconds saved per frame in edit soon adds up
I use a Macbook Pro i7 16gb with a Radeon pro560 graphics
Edit i use  Final cut pro 10 and it is all stored on a samsung T5 SSD
