Hi Panox.

I got the same message, but at least the stills are visible. What do you think to them, worth getting or not?

It seems they would be great for filming at night but how does the weight affect the handling?

If you're after beauty footage then these lights will probably disappoint.   Yes they will illuminate but it will most likely be a brash and unflattering final image.

So great for inspecting a broken chimney at midnight, but my guess is you won't get pretty footage with them.

Happy to be proven wrong if someone has elegant results!

Most likely correct. So, Jim you need to produce a small HMI light with a lightweight batt for night filming

Muzzy - good find but what I want are really strong strobes for the backend so they perhaps don't interfere with the camera optics as much. Have you seen strobes?

Hi Jim,

Heh, some of those aren't too bad, but the one with people was the traditional "Aliens Landing On Us!" lighting, very direct and very harsh.    Some of the stills weren't bad though!

Also, in those examples the drone was just used as a positioning tool for the lighting, the shots weren't taken from the drone itself, which would have been from the same perspective as the lighting, which usually isn't the best idea.   This is why FLASH pictures generally look pretty harsh, you have massive light straight on and nothing from the sides/rear and it creates an unattractive result.

I haven't noticed that the weight affects handling.  I make sure that I install them symetrically on either side of the copter.

I see some applications where these can be good especially for low light inspection services however I also see added weight and reduced flight times.

There was a whole discussion regarding these prop guards in this thread: http://forum.dji.com/thread-11348-1-1.html
