I bought a spark before.It was not flying more than 200 m. Now I bought a Mavic air. I cant go more than 100 m. It loses the signal and starts to return to home. I am checking the antennas to keep in proper position but stll losing the signal so early. Ok I dont expect to go 4 km. as it says thats the range. But I should be happy even with 700 -800 meters. But no way signal loses. If anybody can fly more please help me.

I have no problem to go over 500m in open area with 2.4g channel. Check is any interference around.

Try flying in some other place - preferably a very open one.  It may simply be that there is some type of strong interference where you are flying now.  Also, how many satellites are you showing when you take off?

I performed a Mavic Pro range test last week that yielded good results.

I got about 1.2Km in a built up area with my Mavic Air. Since the latest upgrade, I only get about 3-400m :-(

I know a couple the same issue - it is a factory defects with strong signal at Mavic Air.
Maybe you have the same situation?

Some people said MA RC used high power FCC standard output outside US. May be they “fixed” this on latest firmware and set the range “back to normal”. Where are you located?

I would do the fake GPS trick to force it to fcc.

Refresh FW re-calibrate everything IMU, Compass, etc uninstall go4 and reinstall it put it into airplane mode and try again.

4KM is an FCC area like the US - in Europe we use CE and the range is advertised as 2KM for the MA subject to flying in an area free of obstructions and electromagnetic interference. Change location and ensure to manually switch to 2.4GHz within the app.

me too can't fly more than 200m and with poor (choppy) video transmission difficult to control the flight

Do you have any Android device or know someone which has one.
There was someone doing test with this few days ago that its because GPS mismatch.It coused the drone to go into some kind of save mode.
He connected to Android device once and after that all was good.
Would bee good to know if this is true and then what IOs or device dont work.
Will look more for that link to post it here.

Downgrade the App will also fix this. Dji know about this and are working on it.

Many people flying the Mavic Air have mixed results. Some say the range is great others say it's no different than the Spark. To note: WiFi typically depends on many factors such as congestion and availability, peak time could cause reduced range than flying off peak?

Few people have confirmed this to work. Thought first this was some BS but it seam to work.

My MA fly to 300m without problem in city area with a lot WiFi. It’s not great but compared with Spark can’t go even 100m in the same place I am quite happy with that.  I use iPhone 8 and can easily go over 500m on open area. And I am not in US and use auto 2.4G channel.

Just have in mind that its not advised. Have you looked at both the other ways Dji Thor recommended?

I am sure the following is not the case but I will mention it because I am an idiot that did it. For some unknown reason I failed to fold down the antennas.

Definetly, the best place to flight is away from wifi interfrence. That also includes mobile devices

Been having all of these issues with my MA. Im using an iPad with latest app, latest firmware, in airplane mode, on both 2.4 and 5,8 my video starts chopping at 100M. I also have a problem with my sd card. I’m wondering if I have a bad drone. So unbelievably frustrating!

Please provide the screenshot of the wifi-setting, please fly in a place without interference. Did you try to change some places to fly your drone?

Please ensure that you put the landing gear and the antenna in the right position. Any interference? Please keep us updated, thanks.

ok.I will fly in a different place and then inform

DJI's choice to use wifi for the controlling signal was a terrible design. If it has so many interfaces why would you choose that?? I live in a rural area, a small 20 home neighborhood, and when I look at the 2.4ghz channels in the app there is not one green channel, they all show red. I do not live near any metal structures, all powerlines are underground, and yet DJI tells us to fly in a more remote area. I can't get much more remote! We shouldn't have to travel to the moon to fly this drone. DJI you need to come up with a fix for this!! People paid hundreds of dollars for this drone and it's performance is completely unacceptable!!
