looking for 2x range(FCC mode). was wondering if anyone here has the Raptor SR for the mavic air, want to know if its worth it. the antenna is rather large so i want a pretty good range for the portabillity loss

Totally worth it.  I had laggy video feed, but after installing the 4Hawks antennae, no more video feed issue and distance doubled.

i installed the antenna today and tested range. i only got a 200 - 300m improovment in range. from 1200m to 1500m, a little disapointed. but image transmission defenetly got better.

i was wondering if there is any difference in wich wire you connect to wich side of the antenna?

in urban area 2700 meters and clear open almost 5000 meters
in fcc mode in ce urban 1500 meters and open 2900 meters
stock antennas in ce urban 500 meters and open 1000 meters
in fcc urban 800 meters and open 1500 meters

alright i didnt pay attention to how i installed the wires inside the controller. so il have to do another range test with the wires switched up on the outside instead.

i too use custom, usually 5.8 as it gives me better range because im in an urban area with alot of 2.4 noise. but from some people iv been talking to, the antenna only has one side thats broadcasting 5.8 GHz, is this true?

yea that goes down the drain. but its 100% worth it for me personally as it gave me such amazing video feed

Hello Kevinab, when its going wrong with you RC, for about 120€ you have a new one..Enjoy your fly's!

Only issue I see is that this mod appears to be a directional signal. Like the boosters. Facing the antenna away from the drone may produce signal loss. I did not see anything about adding to the drone itself so the warranty is only voided on the RC correct? Also the XR looks as big as an iPad mini... kinda bulky and front heavy? I do not suffer from any signal issus so not for me, but someone that is plagued with signal issues this may be a God send.

yes it is rather directional. but it blasts the signal in a balloon shape outwords. so if ur flying 500m+ away, you can indeed turn 90 degrees and keep the signal fully intact

The install looks ridiculously hard. How difficult is? I feel like I would break something.

its dead easy for the air. only thing i broke was the stock antenna when trying to remove them. but who in there right mind would want to use them after seeing the performance of the SR anyways

I know this is an old post but finally decided to give this a try to increase range. I install the SR on Monday.
Anyone have a good experience with a Mavic Pro they want to share? Seems more Mavic Air installs than Pro.

I tend to fly in rural areas with not too many houses. A lot of the time my battery is about ready for RTH just as my video feed gets bad anyway. I can see it being worth if if you fly in areas with interference or you have a Mavic Pro and can fly like 10 miles round trip.
I guess for the Mavic Air, I'd rather spend the money on an extra battery, sun shield and maybe some of those cheap parabolic reflectors.

I would love to hear from 4Hawks users. This make the remote much less portable, isn't it? The Remote with original antennas fit inside the combo bag. But with the 4Hawks, you can't do it any more. Is this correct?

It's can fit inside the combo travel bag with 3 batteries. Except the drone have to in his own case.

Couldn't find out how.. Maybe just if I disconnect the antenna pannel

u dont need it on pro. its got occusync. all u need to do is downgrade firmware and boost to 1.5W, silky smooth transmission

that was a problem for about 1h after installing it. than i found a small bag for the remote and havent had issues since

True that! The Mavic Pro has the Boost fcc 1.5 trick on it, which eliminates the need for the raptor sr or raptor xr on the drone!
As with the boost you get as far as the battery takes you with perfect signal I think.

Anyone on here has the Raptor XR?  I’m only getting 2000-2500 feet range with parabolic extenders.  I’m in a deeply settled wooded suburbs in New England.   I’m trying to decide between the SR and XR and hearing reports that the SR only marginally improved range makes me want to get the XR.

SR marginally improoves the range but greatly improoves general connection stabillity. i havent got the XR myself so i cant tell. but tbh its massive and i dont see the point in making your drone as portable as a P4P

Works great for me,

I got the raptor 4hawks Raptor SR installed and like others have said, my range only increases by 500 feet or so.  Video feed seems more stable though. I wonder if adding amps would make a significant difference?

Yes, adding the 5.8 GHz boosters to the 4hawks Raptor SR significantly increases my range without losing video feeds.
