I've had this problem with my Inspire since I got it but I am also experiencing it with my Air too. Even in bright light, auto mode needlessly increases the ISO. Today despite the shutter being 1/2000th auto ISO was at 118. Why is it doing this?!

Sorry I missed that. Because you're using auto is why it's changing. If you want it to stay set go with manual.

I would guess, as the shutter speeds go in steps and Air has a constant aperture, this is how they adjust the exposure  to match some EV values that are in between those steps...
118 is not that far from 100 anyway... :-)
