Even the shape of the furrows were well crafted. I've noticed differing furrow characteristics between farms but I haven't worked out the correlation between choice of equipment, type of crop, land characteristics etc but farming seems more of a science these days  

I can't imagine what this scene would look like had there been no agriculture!

I took some artistic liberty... we had interesting skies tonight so I took to the car and headed out to a convenient field just to photograph the sky. I then used tonight's sky instead on Saturday's scene to give the result below.

It’s fun to speculate. Look at old settlements where nature has reclaimed it.
Sometimes the past is completely hidden.
I like antiquity...

Funny you should mention nature reclaiming the past... 11 years ago just about half a mile from that location, they were clearing up an overgrown area at the end of the bridge and re-discovered the old toll house!
To think how many had driven past it not knowing it was there.

There have already been several, to a few extinctions.

Thank you I'd love to try this with a later Phantom model myself to see if it give better results. My "ageing" 2016 P4  camera is a little soft in places which robs some of the detail.

There are all sorts of wonders hidden away round here, or lost to ill fate.

One fantastic tool I use is from the National Library of Scotland which allows highly detailed and accurate Ordnance Survey maps from the 1890s to be overlaid over satellite imagery.

For example, Rossie Castle, was blown up in the 1950s and very little remains of the estate as shown below;

You may need to select the OS 25inch map from the "map series" drop down list and then use the transparency slider beneath it to fade in an out the map over the satellite imagery.

It's amazing using this for towns to see what has changed, or finding buildings long lost in the vegetation.

Incidentally, the tollhouse above is right in the middle of the map below, next to the "1142"

Visiting these old places of antiquated existence, even by drone is fun.

A closer look, with a cursory search on ground by foot, with a decent quality metal detector...
Need I say more... hidden riches to behold.

Hehe - I imagine when the building was uncovered it was a major distraction. I do recall seeing some bent signage on that corner Incidentally, that's a chimney stack in the middle with a little fireplace below to keep the occupant warm. Must have been rather cramped!

Either way, I am really liking that stuff!
